    I?m addicted to reading.

If you could see my room or my desk, you?d understand. On my desk alone I have Neverwhere (Neil Gaiman), The Best of Fantasy 2001 and Year?s Best Fantasy and Year?s Best Fantasy 2 and Tales from Jabba?s Palace (anthologies), The Fellowship of the Ring, the Silmarillion and The Lays of Beleriand (J.R.R. Tolkien), Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (J.R. Rowling), The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (up for debate), Starfighters of Adumar and Rebel Stand (Aaron Allston), Traitor (Matthew Woodring Stover), The Stand (Stephen King), Daughter of the Forest (Juliet Marillier), Cloak of Deception (James Luceno), The Broken Sword (Poul Anderson), Shadow (K.J. Parker), Good Omens (Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett), and Conan the Victorious (Robert Jordan).

Aside from The Stand, which I?m currently reading, all of the other books mentioned are my own.

The mess in my bedroom is worse. Two large bookshelves are overflowing. I have stacks of books that come up to my waist, and I?m a pretty tall guy. I?ve built a small fort with my Star Wars paperbacks. There are some parts of the room where I?ve given up even trying to stack and I?ve just started throwing them into piles. And the really scary thing? I?ve read all of them, most of them more than once. Hundreds, maybe thousands of books. I spend over $1000 a year on new reading material, easily. And that?s just the tip of the iceberg: I get most of my books from the library.

Does anyone else share my addiction? I?ve tried to get help, but people just laugh at me. I can?t resist the urge to whip out my latest paperback on the bus, at work, during class. Does anyone else share my addiction?

YES!!! Finally, someone knows what goes through my mind every single day!!

I carry around AT LEAST one book to read EVERYWHERE I go. It is an addiction, but not one I plan on breaking at any time soon.

You know, I like the word 'bibliophile' so much, I'm going to get a bumber sticker made! :p

Yup. I am also a bibliophile. Actually, now that I got my drivers liscense I go back to the library before my pile of books are due, so they're all due on different dates. I can't keep track of them all, so a large part of the money I spend on books is for overdue fines. My teachers' biggest complaint is that I read during irrelevant subjects like math or science. Actually, I read in class more than I sleep(in class) :)

I don't read constantly, but i do find myself extremely fasinated in fantasy books like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. I usually find time everyday to read something from one of those books :D

I, unfortunately, can't afford to read books that much, and there aren't enough books I like to read to read that much consistently. But I do love to read.

Both myself and my girlfriend read all the time.

It has gotten so bad that when we go to a used bookstore we just buy a book/s for no particular reason. We both know darn well that we will probably never get around to the books we buy because we have so many other books!

We both used to work at a public library, and we took alot of the discarded books that they got rid of.

I would not complain, except when you move around as much as we do, you start to get tired of lugging around 20-30 boxes full of books! :p

I'm an avid reader and buy waaaay more books than I could possibly need. If I see a book that sounds good, I have to buy it.

I, too, am a bibliophile. A recommendation, though -- skip all the Conan pastiches. Some of them are amusing, a few are vaguely worthy, but for the most part, just stick to the REH stories.

    Me = Lifelong bibliophile

Have always been a reading fanatic. There are bookshelves all over my house that are overflowing....tons of boxes in the attic. Down here in my 'den (where my computer is)' are all of my Titanic book (huge collection) along with my other history books, as well as my collection on forensic science and serial murder.

    Strange tastes, I know. ;)

I'm addicted, and proud of it. :D I go to the libary every week. At my highest, I was reading an average of 10 books a week (currently I'm down to two to four). I own probably 300 books now. The bianual booksale my libary does is like Christmas. I'm happy for days (no kidding) afterwards.

Being addicted is a good thing! ;) :D

I have written love poems to the Sci-fi/Fantasy section at Barnes and Noble (seriously). I love the smell of brand new books, to just bury your nose and smell, and their smooth texture, and their unspoilt pages...Can anyone identify with me on this?
