    Hey y'all, I went to gamestop today, and there was one of those demo kiosks for Gamecube set up. Well this particulart one had Star Fox adventures on it, and I got to play a little bit of it. Here are my impressions:

    First of all, the game is very pretty. When I saw some of the screenshots,I wasn't too impressed, but let me tell you, the screenshots don't do it justice. The colors are clean and vibrant, with great contrast. The framerate and animation are silky smooth. This game seriously has some of the best and smoothest animation I've seen. And there is some nice shadowing work. In the first level, which takes place during a storm, lightning flashes will light up the enviroment and cast shadows. And to top it off, there is no aliasing. I'm a big fan of no aliasing.

    Now, the game begins with that blue fox girl riding a pterydactyl thing through a storm. She's attacked by a dinosaur ship. The dialogue is subtitled because the characters speak a very cool alien language.

    I played a couple levels and it's quite fun. The controls are intuitive. The c-stick inventory is very easy to use. If the first levels are any indication, this game will be very buy-worthy in november.

    Good to hear. I've been meaning to get over to EB this week to try that and Mario, but I haven't had the chance yet.

    That's good to hear. I was starting to worry for a while that this game was going to turn into a clone Ocarina of Time with Fox McCloud as the main character.

    I wouldn't say it's a clone at all. Not to say it doesn't resemble it, the controls do in some ways, but the tone is very different. For one thing OoT didn't have traditional Star Fox flying battles, did it? :p

    So far the voice acting in that game has had me laughing into such a hysterical fit that I've accidentally destroyed 7 kiosks as I flailed about the floor. The game's voice acting makes Star Wars games' VA look good!

    If those are PAID actors, I think Rare should ask for their money back.

    I've seen it at kiosks at best buy. It looks decent. What bugs me is Nintendo could have just as easliy created a new character to get something fresh in the mix but in true style they're overusing a franchise till it's played. BTW I didn't stick around long enough to hear any voices but now I wish I had ;)

    I played it for like two minutes. I was too busy playing Mario though. :cool: Those two minutes were boring though. Plus it was at Wal-Mart so I had to crane my neck like straight up the whole time.

    Well, if it's anything like either of its two predecessors, the voice acting will be laughable.

    In the first one, electronic sounds were substituted for their voices, and in Starfox 64 the voices were annoying as hell. Slippy's whining and Peppy's constant "TRY A BARREL ROLL!1!!" almost made me destroy the game. I thought Falco was interesting though.

    I haven't been following this game at all, so I don't even know if they're in this or not.

    Andross is dead, StarWolf are vanquished and StarFox are in a bad state, with hardly any work, the StarFox capital ship 'Great Fox' has fallen into Disrepair.

    Rob64 is in downtime.

    Slippy Toad, the StarFox Technician, is constantly working around the clock to keep all the ArWings in good order.

    [image=http://www.rareware.net/graphics/starfox-adventures/medium/007.jpg]

    Peppy Hare, the Mission Support has nothing to do except sit around all day.

    [image=http://www.rareware.net/graphics/starfox-adventures/medium/012.jpg]

    Unknown to StarFox, all is not well on 'Dinosaur Planet', the evil General Scales and the SharpClaw clan, we're exiled from the planet many years ago, for it was thought that their Violent Nature and Lust for World Domination would threaten the peaceful Dinosaur's way of life.

    [image=http://www.rareware.net/graphics/starfox-adventures/medium/006.jpg]

    In a frustrated rage, Scales has gathered together a great army of prehistoric minions to overpower the peaceful dinosaurs and make himself ruler of the planet.
    Enter...

    Krystal The Blue Fox and Protector of Dinosaur Planet. With her CloudRunner and Magic Staff, it's her job to defeat the evil General Scales and save the Dino's from the pending threat.

    [image=http://www.rareware.net/graphics/starfox-adventures/medium/41.jpg]

    Only, during the battle, she drops her staff...

    On a routine mission, Fox McCloud encounters the 'Dinosaur Planet', in his ArWing he lands in 'Thorntail Hollow' and recovers the Staff. He is then informed fate by Krystal, he must save the Dinosaurs and defeat Scales.
    But he alone cannot complete this mammoth task, he recieves help from his teammates, Slippy, Peppy and Rob, and also from the small, friendly, and smartmouthed young Tricerotops called 'Prince Tricky' who becomes Fox's friend 'whether he likes it or not'.

    [image=http://www.rareware.net/graphics/starfox-adventures/medium/013.jpg]

    During his mission, Fox must engage in hand to hand combat using Krystal's Staff with the SharpClaw, Fly through Space and the skies of Dinosaur Planet in his Trusty ArWing, Help out Krystal and the other Dinosaurs of the planet and save them all from the Tyranous General Scales.

      -Andross

      Born and Raised on Corneria, Andross grew to be a brilliant scientist. He did some work with Bio-Technology, which went in vain on the peaceful planet; Andross lost his morals and became twisted, soon becoming mad and releasing a secretly developed weapon on the citizens of Corneria, damaging many major cities. General Pepper, head of the Cornerian army, exhiled Andross to the planet Venom. Five years later, Corneria's observation station reported strange goings on on Venom and sent the newly formed StarFox (see 'StarFox Original') to investigte. Unfortunately, one of the members, Pigma Dengar, betrayed the team, leaving team leader James McCloud for dead, with Science officer Peppy Hare only escaping with his life. Andross declares war on Lylat, conquering planet one by one. General Pepper trusted the job of stopping Andross to the newly formed StarFox (see 'StarFox'), who sucessfully overcame the Venom defences, destroying arch rival's S

    Ok now that Starfox Adventures has come out now (9/23 in the USA and 9/25 in Canada) what does everyone think of it?

    I picked it up on the 25th and so far I am LOVING the game. It's got really good graphics, great storyline, sweet fighting moves (can even do combo's etc) and if you liked Zelda OOT and MM (Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask) then you will definetly like/love SFA. :D

    From what I remember, it was orignally being developed with new characters and just called Dinosaur Planet, but Nintendo later decided to make it part of the Starfox franchise and adjust the game to fit.

    The game wouldn't have been half as good on the N64. The N64 is technically NOT capable of running a game like SFA because SFA takes advantage of the Gamecube's power which is a *LOT* more then the N64.

    We all know how good OOT and MM was on N64, imagine how much better they could have been on the Cube. :)

    The voice acting is good, BUT...

    RARE did NOT do enough testing on this game!

    I've only been playing it an hour and ALREADY the graphics start screwing up whenever I go into the store on dinosaur planet.

    I thought Rare was a quality studio. I can see why Nintendo sold them to Microsoft if they've putting out this buggy crap.

    Vonn how are the graphic's screwing up? I go to the store quite often as well and I don't see any major graphic's problems. Perhaps if you could elaborate?

    Oh and speaking of RARE screwing up, it could be possible. I've been reading the Gamefaqs Message board for Starfox and already some people have been making a backup copy of thier savegame to a second memory card. Why?

    Because apparantly if you go back to the "Walled City" the second time around, you apparantly can't go back to other stages or area's and will lose Tricky for good??? I don't know if this is true yet myself, as I just got to Walled City for the first time today, saved, and made a backup copy on my second memory card just in case.
