Title: I shall never surrender
Characters: Kyp, Jaina, OC
Timeline: n/a
Genre: Dark...muhahahahahaha
Notes: I was going through my music collection when I stumbled upon the Soundtrack to Devil May Cry 4, the XBox game. And I remembered that I'd written a story about three years ago with the lyrics to the song. I changed a bit in the story, cut out the lyrics for one because they're awful. :p But I sort of like the story.

It's interesting how I perceived darkness three years ago and how I look at it now. If I'd written this today...hell...I swear darkness would have been oozing off the screen. [face_laugh]

A single small lamp was the only illumination within the large room, casting shadows along the dark red walls. Holo images of a world long forgotten lined the room, showing beautiful beaches and clear blue water, waves crashing against the shore and a magnificent moon lighting up the scenery.
The man sitting behind his desk saw these images every day but in the end he?d simply forgotten ? forgotten his home, forgotten his life.

Kyp Durron smiled slightly. In his hands, he held a portable holo receiver and he cocked his head to the side when he recognized the person skulking about the premises.
?You?re certain she?s here??

The tall man standing before him gave a curt nod, ?Yes, my lord.?

Kyp pursed his lips while he pushed away from the desk and got to his feet. He walked a few steps towards the tall, oval windows from which he could look out to a vast, green landscape surrounding his home. During the day when the sun shone to light up his personal garden, he would watch as the smallest of animal life dwelled amongst the beautiful high trees and colorful flowers growing around a crystal fountain.
He felt the purest of innocent life even now in the darkness.

Slowly Kyp ran a thumb along his chin, all the while feeling the other man?s sinister glare on his back. At times Kyp had asked himself if it had been wise to recruit Cain as a protector. Cain was a perfect fighter, eliminating his enemies only in close combat.

Cain stood with his hands clasped behind his back and Kyp knew he was wearing his weapon of choice. Silver claws attached to his right hand, the tips elongated and curved and as Kyp had witnessed often, a very deadly weapon.
?Should we intercept ??

Kyp held up a hand and Cain knew better than to talk further. ?I?ll take care of it myself.?
He turned around and arched a dark brow wondering if Cain would reply. The younger man disliked it when Kyp ventured out alone ? it was Cain?s main obligation to guard his Master unless Kyp ordered otherwise.

Nevertheless, Cain held his peace, knowing it would do him no good to argue.

?As you wish, my lord.? Cain said in a low tone. He bowed, locks of golden hair falling over his broad shoulders. Kyp watched as the younger man turned on his heel and left, the soft golden light of the lamp reflecting off his black armor.

Kyp sighed as he returned his gaze back to the gardens but then he smiled ? he was very much looking forward to this next confrontation.

Jaina ducked behind a large, stone wall that rounded the compound Durron had erected as his new home. She shook her head at the thought, letting her backpack fall to the grassy ground with a slight thud.
She crouched low, her gaze wandered upward while her fingers fumbled with the release of the pack. Recognizing a blue laser wire, she knew there was no way she would be able to jump over the wall without serious burns.

She blew out a breath to calm her rapidly beating heart. It had taken her years to summon up the courage to face Durron and now that she was so close, she was having second thoughts.

Remember what he did. Do not back down. You have nothing more to lose.

Closing her eyes for just a moment, she tried calling on the Force but even such a simple task seemed to be too difficult ? her nerves were going haywire.
Ignoring her doubts, she thrust her hand into the backpack and extracted a small circular object. She attached it to the wall and punched a single button. T

Oh my Connie... This is ... WONDERFUL!!!

You had me at dark. And you know how much I love me a Dark Kyp. All sorts of sexy...

Mmmmm...

Though the killing Jaina part... broke me a little bit, but the darkness of Kyp made up for it.

Great action sequence... everything!

Shocking, powerful great piece, Cei. The bit at the end when he sent a lock of her hair back was perfect. Really enjoyed this.

What a wonderful, dark spin! Kyp really has fallen to the Dark side, and I really worry for Jaina and her family. I wonder if Kyp was telling the truth about Han? I hope there's more to come! Well done! =D=

Oh, that was frightening and very dark! Feel terrible for the Solo family, or what's left of it. The ending just made it all the more disturbing. Great writing!

Oh wow, talk about dark. There's something very sexy about dark!Kyp, though. I dunno. He's cool and I really like how you wrote him here. You give a great insight into his mind and he's just really cool.

But ohhh, Jaina. Poor Jaina. And I have to wonder what Kyp has done to Han. It can't be entirely good, even though it's SO fitting that even when dark like this, Kyp would retain a bit of a soft spot for Han. I like that.

And the ending really got me. The curl of hair... wow. I can't imagine what that must be like for the others. Evil evil Kyp!

Awesome job though! =D= I really enjoyed it. I'm not a fan of really dark stuff (as you probably know by now) but it's okay because it's AU, so I can enjoy it on its own merit! *lol* Nice one! [:D]
