But it could just be a fat kid. :(

I'll have to go up behind and be like "Ghyslain?" and see if he reacts :)

Watch out, he might sue you.

That lawsuit was more than justified. Those kids made him so miserable, and I'm sure he was already never that popular in school. That movie ruined his life.

And on topic, I think he's in a mental hospital now. So I doubt you saw him, if this was recent.

    1. He should not have practiced the lightsaber.

    2. If he violated #1, he should not have recorded it.

    3. If he violated #1 and #2, he should not have done it at school.

    4. If he violated #1, #2, and #3, he should have kept better track of the tape.

    5. If he violated #1, #2, #3, and #4, he should smile happy and enjoy his 15 minutes of fame.

He's overweight, no matter how many people in the world know it--he's still overweight. :-\

Please cite a reference for your mental hospital claim.

    3) is incorrect, he did it at home and the tape was at home, some guys from school, his friends or something, took it and uploaded it.

No, he did it at school, with school equipment. He should have erased the tape if he didn't want it seen...

    1. He should not have practiced the lightsaber. Who among us has not? Let he who is innocent take the first swing.

    2. If he violated #1, he should not have recorded it. Granted, that certainly was a mistake.

    3. If he violated #1 and #2, he should not have done it at school. I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure he did it at home.

    4. If he violated #1, #2, and #3, he should have kept better track of the tape. I beleive he put it on a shelf, at his house, and his "friends" stole it.

    5. If he violated #1, #2, #3, and #4, he should smile happy and enjoy his 15 minutes of fame. Not when it ruins your life, forces you to drop out of school and you end up in a mental hospital. [face_plain]

And thanks for posting that link Qui Gon Moon. :)

The statement of claim includes lengthy excerpts that it says come from Internet chats in May between the pranksters.

Complete with misspellings, bad grammar and cyber-style acronyms, the exchanges are used in the statement of claim as evidence that the boys lacked remorse. They also brag in them that they evaded attempts by school officials to find the culprits behind Ghyslain's misfortunes.

... While the video of Ghyslain's antics generated some derisive Internet comments, others felt bad and started raising money for him. One group collected more than $3,000 (U.S.), which they used to buy him an Apple iPod portable music player.

In the excerpts from Internet chats filed in court, the four appear to be plotting ways to get the gifts sent to another address so they can keep the iPod for themselves.

I'd never heard this before. The sheer cruelty displayed by the boys who got the video uploaded is saddening.

So, I take here no one has ever been:

    -14 years old

    -Overweight

    -Unpopular

    -harassed by classmates

It's not the video itself-but the fact that he was harassed and bullied by his classmates. I too have been that awkward, unpopular 12 year old who got off the school bus crying everyday and wishing I were dead.

Although, I think "Ghyslain Raza" is an EXCELLENT Star Wars name, don't you?

I was that boy from ages 5-17. It was not fun. I can't remember how many times I had to take different routes in the halls because I was afraid of being beaten because I read Star Wars books. [face_plain] (I actually saw the bullies waiting for me, so it wasn't just paranoia.)

But still overall I have to say, something like this he should be able to take with a grain of salt. I understand it bothering him a hell of a lot. I understand needing some counciling even, but a mental hospital? I think that that's taking it to far.

I am innocent. *swing swing swing*

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure he did it at home.

It seems everyone has heard differently. :-\

I beleive he put it on a shelf, at his house, and his "friends" stole it.

If I had a tape like that, it would be under lock and key.

Not when it ruins your life, forces you to drop out of school and you end up in a mental hospital.

He wasn't forced out of school. Forced out of school is like...okay, if you are suspended or expelled. Otherwise it is a choice. Too bad he ended up in mental hospital, but again--his fault, sadly.

I am innocent. *swing swing swing* Somehow I knew you were gonna say that. And you call yourself a star wars fan.

It seems everyone has heard differently. Like I said, I'm not certain of that.

If I had a tape like that, it would be under lock and key. Well I doubt he expected his so-called friends to go looting through his tapes, find that one, steal it, and put it on the net. But true, it still wasn't a good idea to tape it.

He wasn't forced out of school. Forced out of school is like...okay, if you are suspended or expelled. Otherwise it is a choice. Too bad he ended up in mental hospital, but again--his fault, sadly. Well that may be technically true, but he was being tortured mercilessly. Its one of those things where you don't have much choice in the matter, even if there technically is a chioce.

By the way Skywalker325, have you ever noticed how we often end up arguing over something? Strange isn't it? :p

Because people only CHOOSE to be mentally ill or depressed.

When someone ends up in a mental hospital, it's their fault? You think they're consciously choosing to be debilitated? And worse, you think they don't deserve sympathy?

He filmed himself playing with a microphone stand or something like that, swinging it around like Darth Maul, with the school's camera. He left the tape in and some other kids found it and put it on the net. Dozen's of copies have been made with various effects, the best one being a lightsaber effect over the stick, hence "Star Wars Kid". Just do a Google search.
