I think Ulic Qel-Droma's character was the EU's version of Anakin

Since the old EU wasn’t allowed to touch the Prequels-era and Anakin before the Prequels were made, I think Ulic Qel-Droma’s character was the EU’s version of Anakin, I think Ulic’s character was like their wink “see, thats how We would have done it”

 

Fascinating thought. Think it could be true. By the way, in retrospect I think there are also a lot of parallels in the personalities and deeds of Exar Kun and the Legends version of Count Dooku.

IIRC, Tom Veitch wanted to tell Anakin’s story but wasn’t allowed to, so I think it’s highly likely that Ulic Qel-Droma was based on his ideas for Anakin

 

Come to think of it, I think the prequel trilogy would have been better if it had bee based off Ulic Qel-Droma's story instead. The look and feel of Episode I feels more appropriate for the ancient Republic rather than the pre-Imperial period. So, Queen Amidala is ruler of Koros Major rather than Naboo, replace the Trade Federation with a pirate fleet (Nelori Marauders?), replace Qui-Gon with Arca Jeth, who on his mission to liberate Koro Major discover the brothers Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma. Episode II is about the Krath war and Ulic's turn to the dark side, and then Episode III is about the Exar Kun war and Ulic's eventual redemption.

 

I think Darth Caedus story should have been Anakin Skywalker story for the Prequels.a more political motivation to join the Dark Side for the greater good not for just saving his wife

 

You mean by Zaarin, right? Don't think I know of any other examples of Palpatine being captured.

 

Ulic Qel Droma’s exile at the end of his life and training of Vima also reminds me of Luke in TLJ a bit.

 

If anyone remembers the 2002 Clone Wars game, it draws some of those parallels.

Here's a cutscene where Anakin talks to a holographic Ulic who warns him the Dark Side is hard to resist.

 

Ulic Qel-Droma and Revan they could be interpreted as the EU versions of Anakin Skywalker if Vader was alive after ROTJ maybe he would have gone into exile like Ulic or fought against the Empire like Revan did with Darth Malak and Revan Sith Empire
