I ask people I chat with online, and no one ever seems to remember it. It was an awesome toy store chain in the '80s(and probably before that) that competed with Toys R Us. Child World was my first toy store, and still my favorite though it went outta business over 10 years ago.

I was 5 years-old ten years ago. I probably couldn't remember much from back then if I tried...

If it went out of business ten years ago how can it be your favorite, Jaguar?

JediAnne, if you march up to the store founder's doorstep with that gift certificate in tow, he might give you what he determines to be $50 worth of his personal belongings.

    Or at least a cookie.

I remember Children's Palace too. There used to be one at the Huntingon Mall in Barboursville, W.Va. When I was 10 I remember getting one of those old Atari computers from there and bought a few games. i think one was Star Wars and the other was Popeye. I also used to get old Atari and Activision games there. I remember going nuts in there becuase of all the toys they had. Good times :D

I went to Child World only once. I was more of a Toys R Us kid.

Didn't they have this annoying commercial--"Child World, Child World, that's where it's at!"

    Rick McCallum loves you!

The name Child World sounds vaguely familiar. I think I might have gone there as a preschooler.

I LOVED Children's Palace as a kid. Plus, there wasn't really another toy store around so we went there. THEN they opened up like two Toys 'R Us stores really close by and they shut down Children's Palace...heartless bastards.

    I loved that store... :_|.

I remember Children's Palace. There was one here in West Des Moines in a building with a stucco exterior which was an anchor store for a mini mall. The store also had some turrets on top to make it look like a palace. I remember getting a lot of SW, GI Joe, and Transformers toys there as well as getting quite a few birthday presents too. The building it was in is now an OfficeMax, but I still go in there every now and then to reminesce.

They turned the Child World here into a Christmas Tree Shoppe. What a waste. Christmas Tree Shoppe is a cheap ass store for old women, people with no taste, people who are cheap, craft fanatics, and a whole slew of crazy, unsavoiry, and whatever other people that don't go to normal stores. I'm sure you all get the idea. I want my Child World back!!!! Down with Christmas Tree Shoppe!!!!
