Any ideas how much one of these is worth - the actual thing is pretty near mint condition (last time I looked)has a black acrylic stand with a clear acrylic case

    not sure.

Last time I checked the going price for an ICONS lightsaber was anywhere from $600 to 1500.

The problem would be finding someone to buy them.

According to A Universe of Star Wars Collectables there were two versions of this piece - the regular one and the James Earl Jones Signature Edition.

Universe says the following on it:
"Authentic Darth Vader Lightsaber, die-cast metal and plastic prop replica, with numbered plaque, certificate of authenticity, and plexi-glass display case, limited to 10,000 (Icons, 1996)...850.00.
    James Earl Jones Signature Edition...1,000.00"

    All prices are US dollars.

And please use the Question and Answer thread for ad-hoc queries like this - I normally keep a close eye on it and try to respond promptly (if someone else doesn't beat me to it!)... :)

Looking on Ebay, the 2 I found ranged from $75 to $300 if that helps.

How much something is worth depends on A) What someone is willing to pay for it or B) How much it'd take for you to part with the item. If you're willing to sell it for $5, then it's worth $5. If someone is willing to pay $500, then it's worth $500.

Yeah - I would tend to use the figures in my books as ballpark figures. They certainly aren't set in concrete. Like Craigrr said, it's only worth what someone will pay..
