As long as chocolate is involved, I am inclined to agree.

One winter when i worked in a department store I got off early at 8:00 pm. I did not have a car at the time so I had to walk about 2.5 miles to get home. It was VERY cold.

Just as I get out of the parking lot a car pulls up next to me with the window down and a lady says, "You shouldn't have to walk in this come on in." I peeked in and it looked like an older lady who worked in the store. I thought it was a coworker offering me a ride. I said, "Thanks." and hopped in.

So we pull away and she starts talking very nicely about it being so cold and she likes to help out. I looked over nad relized I did not have any clue who this person was, I had never seen her before inmy life. I had gotten in the car with a complete stranger.

I smelled something. In her hand was a cup of beer. I am on full alert at this point, if she pulled out a weapon of any sort I was gonna start swinging.

She remained quite nice the whole time, dropped me off in front of my street, told me to have a nice night when I hurried out of the car, and drove off.

    Whoa.

Lot of people at the Park and Ride*, instead of going on a bus, will take a ride with a stranger who wants to take the HOV(*) lane into town. It is sort of win-win. Person who normally takes the bus gets to downtown fast, and the owner of the vehicle gets downtown fast too.

    * Park and Ride is when you leave your car at the Park and Ride pakring place. At the same place, there wait the buses to take you downtown.

(*)High Occupancy Vehicles. this lane is a lane enclosed, so you can't enter and exit anywhere, you pretty much enter it and keeping on going until you hit downtown. There must be at least 2 passangers in a vehicle in order to use it, but it is great, since you go 60mph instead of being on the freeway with main traffic going 20mph

Getting a ride with a stranger is a potential good way of having bodily harm come to you...

Guess I'd better get outside and stick that thumb out. :D

My sock partner took a ride with a stranger once and never returned...they found him 6 weeks later strung up on a clothesline in tatters!
