What would have resulted? Obi-Wan would still be in the Arena. He probably would have escaped it only to be initially rescued by Master Windu. After the Jedi escaped the arena in Geonosis, would he have gone by himself to face Count Dooku? If he went with say Master Windu (as he did realize he needed help to face him), would they have been able to take down Count Dooku? If not Master Windu then who? If by himself then he surely dies because I believe Yoda came there because of what he sensed in Anakin and not Obi-Wan.
Eh, I doubt Dooku would have killed Obi-Wan. He'd probably just beat him up a lot and take him captive again and drop him at a Separatist prison before continuing on to Coruscant to meet with Sidious. Yoda would never face Dooku, because without Anakin to occupy him, the Count would neatly dispose of Obi-Wan and depart the hangar before the troll showed up. End result, Anakin keeps his right arm, Obi-Wan remains a prisoner and Dooku gets another shot to turn him to the Dark Side. If you're interested, I wrote a fanfic on this exact possibility: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7885790/1/Into-the-Penumbra
I doubt that Dooku would have taken Obi-Wan hostage. He was about to kill him after he initially disposed of Anakin and I doubt that desire to kill him would have changed had Anakin wasn't there.
It was the Geonosians who convicted Obi-Wan of espionage and sentenced him to be executed- so it's possible that had Anakin & Padme not gone, the Jedi wouldn't have considered Obi-Wan's capture as sufficient justification to send a whole army to rescue him. With a Republic Senator being sentenced to be executed- this was an outright slap in the face to the Republic- probably easier to justify an armed response therefore.
1. They didn't know that Anakin and Padmé were there. 2. They sent the army to stop the Separatists, not to save Obi-Wan. On topic: If Anakin had stayed on Tatooine, Padmé would've been killed on Geonosis - I'm not going to Alderaan! - If you plan to protect me, you'll just have to come along. /LM
Anakin and Padme would have: Taken in a Pod Race.Had a moonlit picnic on the Dune Sea.Bought a replacement droid for the Lars family from some Jawas.Made love after confessing to more war crimes and genocide.
A lot of things would've turned out for the better if Anakin actually listened to anything people told him to do or not to do.
I really want to agree with this, but I doubt Anakin would've let Padme out of his sight at that point in the story. With Shmi's passing, the last place in the galaxy that he wanted to be was on THAT planet, but he was incapable of letting go... Tatooine was nothing more than pain personified. If Padme hadn't made the quick decision to go and rescue Obi Wan, then Anakin might've spiraled out of control before ROTS...the change in scenery, the desire to find his friend and the need to protect Padme after his failure, gave him something else to focus on.
Indeed all of the jedi's losses in the battle of Geonosis could be blamed on Anakin as he went against his orders and got captured. And as Iron Lord said with a senator being captured this resulted in a armed force being sent, ending in the death of a lot of jedi. If Anakin had stayed however I believe that Obi Wan would simply have been killed, and no force to rescue him would have been sent, the reason Anakin and Padme set off in the first place.
The armed force was being sent anyway... Mace tells Anakin that they will be going to rescue Obi-Wan. The whole point of Yoda going to Kamino to get the army was to go straight to Geonosis from there to aid the Jedi who were attempting to rescue Obi-Wan. It had already been proven that the Separatists were making a droid army, they were preparing for war. Anakin and Padme's capture was not known prior to the Jedi setting off for Geonosis. Padme says that the Jedi would not get to Geonosis in time to save Obi-Wan. That is her reasoning for going to save him despite the fact that the Republic were sending an army to rescue him.
Yeah, I think Padme, being as naive and idealistic as she still was at that point, thought she could have a nice chat with the Geonosians and convince them to release Obi-Wan, then call the Jedi and tell them they weren't needed after all. Both Anakin and Padme needed to stay back and let the Jedi Council do their jobs.
That's a good speculation, but I doubt that is set in stone. There is no guarantee that such an act by Anakin and Padme would have saved the Republic and the Jedi in the end.
I'm sure Palpatine would have ordered Dooku to keep Obi Wan, and Anakin would eventually be convinced into finding him. Need less to say Yoda wouldn't have been there and a bunch of bad stuff would have happened to both of them.
I'm not so sure, because Dooku was prepared to kill Obi-Wan in the movie and I don't see how that would have changed if Obi-Wan was by himself. The question that I would like to know is if Obi-Wan goes in by himself or who would go with him as he clearly knew that he needed help when he implored Anakin to stay with him and help him fight Dooku. If Windu goes in with Obi-Wan I see Windu taking him Dooku out and that changes how the "war" goes.
"Protect the Senator at all costs. That is your first priority." - Mace Windu "He gave you strict orders to protect me. And I'm going to help Obi-Wan. If you plan to protect me, you'll just have to come along." - Padmé Amidala
I think Dooku would have given Kenobi a chance and conversion. I feel like Dooku had the rebellious trait within him that he wanted to overthrow Palpatine, but he needed a partner, and he would have offered that to Kenobi as he did before he put him in the arena.
