... (Title should be five seasons long) what do you think we'd have seen that we didn't see? What storylines would have been expanded on? Do you think there'll be any official media to chronicle events ? I do think the structure works well but always fun to speculate BBY 4. Very awkward initial courting of Syril and Dedra. Aftermath on Ferrix. Cassian and the others finding refuge on mina rau. The Tie mission being explained along with the rendezvous on Yavin making it clearer this was already a rebel contact planet for exchanges BBY 3 - we would have seen the mission where Andor killed the soldier for seeing Bix's face . Dravin and dondona and other rebel cells finding the temples and beginning the first rebel camp proper on Yavin 4. As they were previously here Andor and rock paper scissors crew could be seen to having input on the planets suitabitly BBY2 . K2s0 hunting rebels in the woods before being reprogrammed ..final scenes of Mon and Perrin if that don't happen in Bby1. Scenes showing the calcite mining beginning and imperial subterfuge at other places in ghorman like the docks
In the longer version I think you'd get more of Mon, sacrificing her marriage, possibly losing her daughter, Davo Sculdun seemed to be set up as a big time criminal, makes me think he could've been linked to Crimson Dawn. Cassian and his friends probably set themselves up like the Lothal Rebels and fight the Empire the best they can, losing them one by one. Luthen could well become more and compromised, really living on his nerves, coming close to being discovered by the Empire and setting up Andor to take over as the Rebellion's number one intelligence agent. I think the whole Jyn snatch would've been done, really setting it up with Melshi and K2, I wonder if Vel would still have been alive, I get the feeling she's going to be leading the Jyn snatch and gets killed. I think keeping it to two season could work out even better if they then make a series in the same style as Andor but set straight after ANH. The Rebels on Yavin split up, recruit more allies and move around the galaxy trying to escape from the Imperial fleet. You know Mon, Dodonna and Draven go off in a different direction to Leia's Rebels, it seems a perfect opportunity to me.
I think you hit the nail on the head on what I think would've got expanded. Hell you wouldn't have had to do 4 seasons, they could've just done 2 more seasons with each season covering a 2 year span instead. Gilroy and team deserve a ton of credit for managing to efficiently and economically truncate the show yet still manage it to match, even exceed, the quality of the first season.
Mods can one of you add a tag? My OCD would appreciate it anyway I think weather I think Andor will need five or two seasons will come out in the last arc until then I can’t really say
Is meant more as a speculation thread I guess. I Think the structure has worried well. I'm just getting hyped at hopefully seeing Jeddah again
I guess as a speculation I would assume some of the side characters would get more fleshed out like Perrin.
I Yeah those seem like good points although I believe two series seems to have been the aim at least soon after season one was released? maybe before? I feel like a big issue with such shows can often be the difference between the plot and the drama. it tends to be easier to expand a plot out across multiple seasons getting by more on its twists and reveals but character drama can I think suffer if it gets drawn out too much. Thus far anyway to me season 2 of Andor feels like a very character driven show, theres been enough time to show progression realistically without becoming overly drawn out going over the same ground. The trade has been that the time jumps have asked a bit more of the viewer plot wise but honestly I don't thin they've ask THAT much. As you say too I think two seasons of Andor does potentially leave the door a bit more open for an OT era show than five seasons would have, More demand for a spy thriller kind of SW show but with different characters and a different setting, Personally something I would like to see is a show focusing on Imperials reaction to the events of ANH, having the true nature of the Empire revealed to them and whether they stick with it or potentially join the rebels? I think Ex Imps in the rebellion would make for interesting drama.
Keep on looking through the trailers and wondering what will happen in the final arc.. rogue one tie ins? New hope tie ins? The fate of these amazing new characters. Never felt that I lived in this universe before. Hopefully we see the Alderaanean fleet and captain Antilles and maybe his droids. Id love to see Dantooine and Jeddah. Dedra will find the shop and I think things will really explode.
It would've been great to see Syril build a closer relationship with the Ghorman people and kinda sorta go native.
I thought the arcs were pretty perfectly paced as it was. I mean could those first three episodes of s2 be 12 single episodes of a whole season of TV?
They wouldn't have been. They would have been the last 3 episodes of a 12 episode season 2 (more or less).
My OCD thanks you edit: anyway now that the show is over I think it could have done with another season but not five
