If Baron Fel and Wedge had found Wynssa Starflare, would the Baron have joined up with Thrawn?

It seems that one of the reasons Baron Soontir Fel joined forces with Thrawn is because Thrawn could offer his wife (Wynssa Starflare, aka Syal(spelling please) Antillies) protection against the likes of Isard and others who might hurt her. And that he could help him find her. Another reason he joined was because of what Thrawn showed him in the Unknown Regions. Seeing this, Fel was determined to do what he could to protect the galaxy against such threats, and joining Thrawn would help him do just that.

But what if Fel and his brother-in-law had found his wife? What if she had then been given the protection of the New Republic? Would Fel have still joined up with Thrawn? Or would he have escaped from Thrawn and then warned the New Republic both of the threats posed from within the UR and of Thrawn? One of the reasons he joined the Alliance/New Republic in the first place was to find his wife. So it makes me wonder what things would be like if he and Wedge had found her and had managed to get protection for her.

Also, would Fel have appeared in the X-wing books as a member of Rogue Squadron or with his own New Republic squadron? He was one of Stackpole's Rogue Squadron comic characters, afterall.

I don't know anything really about the Rouge comics, but what if Wynassa was captured by the "great threat"?

Wasn't she a anthropologist or something?

She was a famous actress all over the Empire, her real identity being Syal Antilles, sister of Wedge.

I think Fel would have gone willingly with Thrawn, once he was shown the extent of the threats out there.

I was under the impression that Fel DID find his wife and was then kidnapped by Isard, at Thrawn's behest, whom with he willingly joined when shown the adversary Thrawn planned to oppose. Subsequently his wife joined him and they made a family, the fates of which have become known in the NJO, albeit as mentions.

Thrawn: Ah! Baron Fel. How nice of you to join us.

Fel: So. You finally returned. The Emperors personal mistake returns. Why am I here?

Thrawn: I simply want to ask for you help.

    Conversation goes on....

Thrawn: And with the resources at my disposal I am sure that I could find your missing wife.

At this point Fel realises if he helps he gets back together with his wife. If not Thrawn finds her and lets the Noghri have their way with her....

Fel probably didnt get a choice about going for a trip to the unknown regions, but once there and when Thrawn showed him what was at stake he joined willingly to fight in a constant never ending war and still have time to have many, many children (including one with a curiously blue tinged skin and red pupils.......)

Sorry I did not read any of the Rogue series. Why did Syal need protection from Isard?

Because of who her brother was. Fel told her before the Battle of Brentaal(spelling please), and well before at that, that he was starting to worry about potential problems for the two of them as a couple, problems stemming from the Empire he loyally served. Isard had come on to him and he'd turned her down, big time. She had said after he did so that she was pleased he had, because it proved just how loyal he was. But this started Fel to worry. And so he told his wife that if something should come up, he wanted her to run and hide. She wasn't even to bother to take the time to tell him where to find her. Fel was captured during the Battle of Brentaal, but from The Making of Baron Fel, I got the impression she may have disappered just before the battle.

When is it mentioned that Fel had a Chiss child?

And I'm not sure of this but isnt there a thing where Jag calls Wedge "Uncle"?

You're memory isn't off. Jag introduces himself to Wedge in Ruin by saying something like "Hello Uncle." As has been pointed out, Wynssa Starflare is actually Syal Antilles, Wedge's older sister.
