How could a jedi council member, who coincidentaly are supposed to be the most powerful, be killed by a bounty hunter, who is within range and in clear vision?

Because...being a Jedi does not make you blaster-proof. Being a Jedi does not make you invincible. Being a Jedi does not make you a god.

If the Jedi were as all powerful as some people on this board like to believe...would they have been defeated, and brought to the edge of extinction?

    Right, devilanse.

The way some of these people talk, you'd expect them to start a thread like "Why didn't Obi-wan save Alderaan by Force-blocking the Death Star laser?" Sheesh.

What's so hard to believe about a guy getting shot several times in the chest and then falling some twenty feet onto his head and dying from it all?

    Come on now.

It isn't just that this Coleman-guy isn't bad, it is just that Jango Fett is very good! It is not for nothing that he is the clone army template, and is quite a match for the Jedi he encounters.

For me Jango Fett is what Darth Maul was in TMP...

Yeah, they were both highly anticipated and loved characters who didn't get enough screen time, and got killed when they should have lived. At least they would if I wrote the PT.

What if anakin crashed into the droid control ship during the space battle?
what if luke went unconscience after his snowspeeder crashed?
what if ozzel wasnt as clumsy as he was stupid?

Star Wars has many humorous "what if" possiblities.

I read somewhere that trebor was a negotiator and he was going up there to negotiate.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I look and think "How can he be killed like that when Obi-Wan took Jango on with duel blasters?" But he is distracted. If you watch he jumps up, ignites his lightsaber then turns to Dooku. The first shot by Jango hits and then he turns more out of shock than anything else - he didn't expect that. The remaining shots are a mere formality before he is killed - how can you block a blaster shot while still trying to recover from being shot in the chest with a blaster powerful enough to kill a reek. He was distracted and didn't pay enough attention to the surrounding activities and so he payed the price.

I also thinks it sets it up nicely for Mace killing Jango with such ease - showing how he is the second greatest Jedi in the order.

EDIT: And chaz I thought that was good. More please!

I have a theory (wait, wait, wait! Don't leave! 8-}), many of the members of the Jedi Order weren't ALL accomplished swordsmen. In fact, many specialized in other areas of power within the Force.

Coleman Trebor's proficency could have been in telepathy, archeology, strategy, healing, et cetera, whearas Obi-Wan Kenobi's and Mace Windu's were in actual combat scenarios.

Coleman Trebor did what he had to to either halt the slaughter, or at least lull the battle with the ring-leaders of the droid army neutralized. It was a highly selfless act going into the preverbile 'lion's den' like that.

Coleman Trebor had the worst death in the Star Wars movies. Jango Fett had two semi-automatic blaster pistols, which a Jedi Council member should have easily blocked; obviously, one got through after about three shots. Jango wasn't showing his skill at that moment-- he was just standing and shooting at nearly point-blank range.

He should've have been able to kill Jango but there is no way he could've beaten Dooku.

Actuallt Jango only had one blaster. The other one was lost on Kamino. So that shows you what a skilled marksman can do with a Jedi.

And the first couple of blaster bolts actually twisted the sabre in Trebor's hand out of the way for the third and fourth shots. Watch carefully.

Plus, I think Coleman was banking on his sudden appearance and the intimidation factor of a sabre igniting as he lands to halt any threat for a few moments. Obviously, Jango doesn't startle easily.

Coleman Trebor was the worst in the Jedi Couincil when it came to combat. Read the ency. on this site. He was a diplomat and spoke to the press for the rest of the council. Now had Plo Koon gone up there. :) Jango would have been killed and Plo would have a cool duel with Dooku. Of course Koon would probably have to die which I wouldn't like.

If he was trying to open diplomacy then why in the name of Coruscant, did he activate his lightsaber!?!

chaz, I trust you intend for Plo and Coleman to have British accents, because the whole thing seems very "Douglas Adams" to me. :D
