If Darth Maul had killed Qui-Gon on Tatooine, would Obi-Wan have made them put the ship down?

That way he could fight Darth Maul and recover Qui-Gon's body. We know he doesn't on Genosis but he has a close bond with Qui-Gon.

Yeah, I think he definitely would have. He would have had them lower the ship and he would have jumped out, lightsaber blazing, ready to face Maul.

Would it have been the right decision? Probably not. And I think he may have thought of this same question at one point, which was why he was so firm with Anakin. It would have only put him in greater danger, even if he didn't think so at the time.

In Obi-Wan's case, it is better for one Jedi to perish and the other live to tell about the Sith attacker than for both to die and there be no one knowledgeable in the area of the Force to tell what happened with accuracy. In that case, Maul could have escaped and the whole Naboo fiasco would have fallen through.

Really? He didn't let his feelings influence him when he killed Maul?

no, obi wan wouldnt let personal feelings influence his decision.

Not in AOTC, but that was ten years later. TPM Obi-wan might have... might not, though. He was very responsible at a young age, especially for someone who's suppodely wreckless.

I definately think Obi-Wan could have them lower the ship, and he would jump out to his Master. I've read the "Jedi Apprentice" series, and after reading those, you find out how much stuff Obi-Wan went through to gain his Master's approval. He definately would not just let the ship fly away and leave his dead Master on Tatooine. When Qui-Gon died later on in the movie, Obi-Wan definately let his emotions get the better of him. Even though he seems calm, Obi-Wan really cares for his Master. *starts thinking of the death scene and sniffles*

It seems like someone has been reading VP.

If they put the ship down then Maul could kill them....Would Obi-Wan want to endanger anyone's lives. They had to get out of there.

The body of a dead man is not as important as the lives of others.

It's just like Padawan_Jess_Kenobi posted, when Maul killed Qui Gon , Obi got furious. He would have stopped the ship.

Remember in TPM Obi was still a young hot-head, like Ani in AOTC. TPM Obi would have landed. AOTC Obi probably wouldn't have.
