If you could remake the OT now, who would you cast?

This is PURELY hypothetical. Have you ever thought who you would cast if you were going to remake the OT? I think it was cast perfectly when it was made the first time, but obviously those actors are too old to be cast if the films were being redone. So who would you cast?

I'd DEFINITELY use Ian McKellan as Obi-Wan.
I'd use Ian McDiramid as the Emperor in ESB.
I'd use Brendan Fraser as Han Solo.
JEJ would STILL voice Vader, but I'd probably use an aged (by makeup) Hayden as Anakin in ROTJ.
As for Luke and Leia--I'm at a loss. I just don't know.
I'm thinking Will Smith as Lando. Temura Morrison could do Boba Fett, since we never see Boba's face and since Boba was Jango's clone.
Oh, and I'd probably use Kristin Scott-Thomas as Mon Mothma, even though that was a very minor role.

 

Luke Skywalker - Me!! (I actually do have an acting background and I even reseamble him a little!)

Leia - Kate Winslet

Han Solo - Ben Affleck (Yeah he's a pretty boy, but I actually like his Jack Ryan better than Ford's, so it would be interesting to see what he brought to this character.)

Darth Vader - Voice of James Earl Jones, digitally aged Hayden for any unmasked scenes, I'd let Hayden wear the suit (padded) for most shots, a digital stunt double would be used for whatever he couldn't do

Obi-Wan - Ewan McGregor aged through makeup and CGI (especially now that we know he's only supposed to be 50-something in ANH!)

Owen and Beru - The actors from AOTC, aged through makeup and CGI

Grand Moff Tarkin - Ian McKellen

Just thought of this - could you imagine Vin Diesel as Han? It would totally change the tone of the movie, but wouldn't it ROCK??

The Kristin Scott-Thomas choice was very clever, and I'm sure she would work well.

I agree with Will Smith as Lando, but Chris Tucker would be a great second choice.

Brendan Fraser as Han would be good, but I'm leaning a little in the direction of Ben Affleck as my choice, although either actor could work well as Wedge instead.

Katie Holmes would be a great Leia.

It was hard to come up with a Luke, but I'm leaning in Paul Walker's direction right now.

Ian McKellan would be a great Obi-Wan, but he would also make a great Tarkin as well.

Gary Oldman could make that role work, too.

LUKE: Christian Bale. Track down a screening of the (vastly) under-appreciate "Equilibrium" if you need a reason why. Or just rent "Reign of Fire."

OBI-WAN: Anthony Hopkins. He's in everything else, and at least THIS would be a step up from "Bad Company."

HAN: Jet-Li.

CHEWIE: No opinion on an actor, but two simple words: NOT CGI.

YODA: Voice of Frank Oz. Two more simple words: SEE ABOVE.

LEIA: Monica Bellucci.

VADER: A very tall man in a suit, voice of James Earl Jones.

LANDO: Keith David.

PALPATINE: Ian McDiarmind.

REBEL GETTING CHOKED AT BEGINNING OF ANH: Hayden Christensen. (just kidding... mostly)

STRIPPER IN CANTINA: Natalie Portman. Yeah, I know, unlikely scenario AND not an actual character. But hey, a guy can dream can't he?

 

I would make the BIG BF have a bigger and better part and Jedi Spirit Qui-Gon in it, for the cast... hmm... This

Huge Jackman it is! I should have thought of him earlier, but he's my choice for the next James Bond, but that's a different story all together.
