    According to EU, the droid is IG-88. Boba Fett disabled the droid and left him for scrap after he learned that IG-88 had found Solo on Cloud City.

    I've always thought that that was a different droid, although I know there is EU that suggests that IG-88 and Boba Fett fought at Cloud City. The driod in the junk room appears to be white though.

    Yes it's true, Boba Fett and IG-88 fought in that very room not long before the Falcon arrived.

    Thanks Bib Fortuna, Twi'lek.

    Read Tales of the Bounty Hunters. It tells how Boba Fett and IG-88 fight.

    The color change of IG-88B's corpse is most likely the result of either the means that Boba Fett disposed of him (ion cannons and a grenade, IIRC) or perhaps a chemical reaction to either the smelter or various chemicals in the Ugnaughts room there.

    If you look closely 4lom's head is also there in the darkness. It's hard to see in the dark but A beam of light goes over it and you can see the details. You can see it as Chewie enters it's behind the conveyer belt in front of the Ugnaught .

    Or the result of the color change may infact be because it is not the same droid.

    I know what the EU says as I actually have read that particular story and while I did enjoy it, I don't think that droid is an IG-88. It is just a re-used prop.

    I thought that I read on the official site in the databank section on droids that IG88 ended up getting himself somehow to be a part of the new death star at Endor?

    The EU story made for him was that IG-88, upon activation, killed his makers and uploaded his personality into the 3 other IG robots, allowing him to occupy all 4 bodies so that he could be in multiple places at once.

    IG-88B was destroyed by Fett on Cloud City.

    IG-88C and IG-88D were shot down aboard their ships by Fett over Tatooine. IG-88C was destroyed. IG-88D, however, managed to survive and make his way to Ord Mantell for repairs. However, he was tracked there by Dash Rendar and destroyed.

    IG-88A (the "original") intercepted a supply shipment to Endor and transferred his programming into the main computer core for the second Death Star, intending to assume control over most it's systems. It, obviously, was destroyed by the Rebels. The empty body of IG-88A was later reprogrammed by someone as a bodyguard, I believe.

    The Tales of the Bounty Hunters is a very good book. THe book is very insightful on the bounty hunters accomplishments and lives outside of the movies.

    The EU is sooooo idiotic. That tripe about IG-88 downloadng himself into the Death Star just proves how LOW the EU can sink. How stupid can you get?? Wouldn't the Empire take some kind of precautions against something like that being able to happen to something so powerful?? Of course they would. How ridiculous. By the way, yes I have read the story, and I utterly hate it with all my heart and sole. In fact, I believe that was the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak!

    As for IG-88 on Cloud City, I am inclined to believe that it was simply another droid. A piece of junk which was about to be melted down. There are more than one style of that particular droid, no need to assume that a white version has to be IG-88!

    Thats right, that was another droid from the same line. Much like that silver protocol droid on cloud city was the same make as 3PO and the astromech droids on Amidalas ship where of the same make as R2. It was not IG-88, sorry.

    Actually, I think the SW Insider identified the droid acrcass as IG-88 in a recent issue (in one of those two page photos where they detail everything and give you factoids and behind the scenes stuff).

    ::shrugs::

    I found it to be a pretty good story (and I'm not alone it seems- most of the reviews/comments on amazon tend to single IG-88's story out as their favorite), but then I might be somewhat partial to the concept- I remember seeing some TV spot promos advertising on USA for an upcoming airing of the OT several years ago, and the way they made it seem (the whole "the death star returns!" thing), it seemed almost as if the death star was a living or sentient thing- an intriguing concept, a "living" Death Star, I thought.

    So I was kinda jazzed to read about the similar concept being explored in IG-88's story a couple years later in that book.

    Regardless, I think it was a pretty entertaining story- the "tracking down his creators for assassination" motive for bounty hunting he had was a good idea, since a droid as a bounty hunter would seem quite strange by itself (why would a droid need money? they have no need for possessions).

    It appears that the droid we're talking about is the exact same model as IG-88, only a different color. The Eeeeeuuuuuuwwww creates this kind of confusion all the time.

    Hey I think I saw the reborn emporer and Luuke in the background as well. :)

    Would Vader have been able to block Han's lazer bolts if a yslamira was under the table? Okay...Ive gone to far.........

    I agree, TotBH is a great book, easily my favorite collection. The IG 88 story was alright, but I didn't like the idea of him uploading his personality into the DS main computer, but I don't doubt it happened. It was an interesting story line, that probably could have been written differently. But to go back to the topic, yup that was one of his copies on Cloud City. :)

    Someone asked this in a SW Insider mag a few issues back and they said there are four models IG-88, IG-88b, IG-88c and Ig-88d, and i think it wuz IG-88c that can be seen in the background but im not sure cuz I dont feel like checking.

    as much as i am 'evasive' of the EU (heeeyyyy, i'm being nice here) i was hoping for an answer more in the line of "one-of-the-prop-guys-screwed-up" cuz ig88 is not your garden variety droid (unlike protocol droids, ig's a holowan lab assassin droid) so the moviemakers wouldnt have used an ig88 in the background knowing people would notice it. still, its interesting the stuff that litters the background which provide continuity loophole, like the poster who mentioned zuckuss' head and ig being at mos eisley.

    what else, eh? mebbe we can all go to a "stuff-you-see-in-background-that-not-suppose-to-be-there" thread. (gee, that sounded almost grimlock-ish)

    k.a.

    I'm not confused by the EU. :)

    Anyway, I personally didn't like that IG-88 uploaded himself into the computer, so I disregard that aspect. The rest of the story is sound IMO, and I keep that as part of the SW experience.

    Did you know that IG-88's head can be found in the Mos Eisley cantina. Wonder how the EU explained that one? ;) It's called reusing props to cut costs. Is it so hard to belive that when a droid is manufactured they make more then one? Look at all the gonk's, astromechs and protocol droids running around.

    [image=http://www.artoosnews.com/artooscustoms/imagearchive/images/characters/droids/astromech1.jpg] [image=http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/astromechdroid/img/movie_bg.jpg]
    [image=http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/protocoldroid/img/eu_bg.jpg] [image=http://www.blueharvest.net/images/gonk/echobase-GONK.jpg] <== Count the Power Droids.

    How will the EU ever explain this? Perhaps Gonk's existence has been splintered in the time space continuum allowing him to occupy multiple places at the same time. No doubt this was some devious plot by a clan of cyborg Dark Jedi. :eek:

    LOL, RABID_BALDING_EWOK! That pretty much sums up the EU in a nutshell doesn't it! Hahaha! That is exactly what I despise about the EU so much, its need to explain every little detail in the movies. You see, there is a story behind that dead fly laying on the table next to Obi-Wan's arm in the cantina (sarcasm intended, at least in the EU!
