No Battelfield, Deus EX or MMORPGS?

Heh, the IGN crowd rates Golden Sun, Skies Of Arcadia and Tales Of Symphonia but shuns BGII: Shadows Of Amn, Fallout, Planescape: Torment and Neverwinter Nights. Hell, they even managed to add Jade Empire to that list. Considering that the list is console game heavy they could have at least added Phantasy Star Online before Golden Sun of all things, lol. And Perfect Dark at 15 while Half Life is stuck at 89 is just wrong. Crazy popularity contest.

And why is RE4 always near the top on these lists? Last year, it was #1 and was #2 on the Nintendo Power list. I've never played it and I'm sure it's a great game....it just seems out of place when you have all those classics before and after it.

 

Yeah, seems to shun the old school games more than a little bit. But, having only been a gamer since '94 or so, I don't have enough nostalgia built up for it to bother me too much.

Nice to see games like Suikoden II and Skies of Arcadia making the list. MMORPGs can take a flying leap.

 

No TIE Fighter, Age of Empires, or Neverwinter?

My gripes are that Warcraft, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter weren't even mentioned.

Most of them seem pretty new-school. It's a pity because there were some amazing games in the 80s and early 90s.

 

Well, part of that is simple. Starcraft > Warcraft. But I have to agree. Resident Evil 4 isn't even my favorite Resident Evil game (that honor goes to RE2). It's much too high. And as much as I adore Chrono Trigger, I would never consider higher than something like Final Fantasy VI, VII or Xenogears. Halo is too high (as always). Guitar Hero is on the list...? Seriously, maybe the list should be renamed best games made in the last 15 years.

Overall, it's okay. Just it needs some shifting around. Most of the games deserve a spot on the list, just the order is way off.

Zelda comprises 10 percent of that list, haha fitting

 

I can't be arsed to defend/bash all those games on that list, so I'll just say that I mostly agree, think that there should be more Planescape/BG2 and that it is true that Resi4 is the ultimate action game.

I am surprised however, that Conker's Bad Fur Day is up there and the superior Rare Platformers, such as Banjo Kazooie, or even Jet Force Gemini are nowhere to be seen.

 

I was gonna make a comment about how a WWE game being on there (and i do admit that there have been some fun wrestling games) ahead of some of the more old school stuff was awfully revealing.

This list sucks.

 

Remember though, this was a list generated by votes from IGN's forum users. It isn't IGN themselves picking the lists. This list is from us, the gaming community (or at least a small percentage of it)

It had some classic NES games on it, but yeah, nothing pre-Crash of 1983
