I like it. I don't think it's really a sport per se, in that most sports penalize fighting, but it produces incredible athletes, requires significant discipline, and stresses strategy and technique over brute force.

 

And it has sweaty, half-naked guys beating the crap out of each other. If that's not entertainment I'll kiss your arse in the market square.

I agree, QS. If you really think about it, sport is the attempt to best another person, usually physically. Boxing is the most fundamental way of doing this. No sticks, balls, goals...just man to man. Like you said, you usually don't win with brute force alone, strategy is needed (see Ali). I love the sport, just hate that there's no decent heavyweights anymore.
