this is in response to a locked thread, although i dont know if it was locked from birth or not, but heres what i found and it looks like the author of the thread has not been on in a while so here goes

what the author wrote about a year ago

the two ships you mentioned in your query about the unknown ships of ewok adventures is a puzzling one indeed, i have done a little of my own research regarding this and it looks to me that you have a good eye for similarities between those craft and well documented ones,

the towani starcruiser looks like it could be a smaller variant of the orbital shuttle line without any wings, that was used during the old republic era,

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Telosshuttle.jpg

there are striking similarities, but it may just be a throwback design that was cheap to produce, it could also be a product of seinar fleet systems or cygnus or any of the subdivision companies that fell under the umbrella of seinar during the days of the empire...the cockpit is definitely one of late republic or imperial design, and the lack of amenities would mean this class of ship was almost like having a minivan or a small mobile home in our universe

noa's starship is a little harder to identify, it could be a design from the same company that made the republic gunship, due to its use of manned turrets on either side of the cockpit, and it does have the appearance of an assualt craft and troop transport, but there may be a few other companies that could have produced such a vessel under limited military or security contracts, before i get to that i wanted to point out several things about it, there is a large hold that can obviously carry a lot of people, and if noa and cindel wanted to, im sure they could have carried all the ewoks that sent them off, also the two manned turrets were open to the air, which is similar to the design of the republic gunship in that it would be great for low level strafing, but one thing i noticed about it that was interesting was that both of the turrets had a door that would seal before exiting the atmosphere, which makes it ideal for space to land infiltration and deployment, so obviously this is a decomissioned/stolen military craft or a civilianized version, there are also two forward facing medium or light turbolasers that have some limited ability to swivel and cover a pretty good forward arc, they also seem to be automated, perhaps with thermal detection or some other form of target acquisition,

now on to the possible origins of the ship...

it could be a mon cal design (???)

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:MC-18.jpg

or it could be a collaborative vessel made by some of the members of the CSA (whos origin predates the empire so it could be a very old assault ship)they made the IRD fighter so im going off of similarities...

they also made the etti light freighter and it combines polygonal and round shapes much like noa's ship

but im kind of leaning toward kuat drive yards before the rise of the empire mainly because of their ship designs... they like to combine polygonal and spherical shapes in most of their craft, and in one case like the law patrol craft, the automated turret is strikingly similar to the one on noa's ship

you can see the rearward turret on the law below, and its design i

Cool. I'm a huge fan of the Ewok movies and I thought the ships were wonderful. I think that this proves that SW can be great without Jedi, which is what it sounds like the TV series will be. I know there's a lot of critics of the Ewok movies, but keep in mind that they were aimed more for families and not teenagers and adults.

Yes the Ewok movies are a lot of fun, and Battle for Endor is so dark at the beginning. I mean Cyndil's family getting killed is about as dark as Star Wars has ever been. I really think it stands the test of time and is good even today. Yeah the effects weren't as flashy as the original trilogy but it has a very moving story and funny characters. Go Teak Go. I'm just starting to revisit the old droids and ewoks cartoons lately as well. Why don't they have complete sets of those on DVD?

Robimus, I have asked the same questions. Why haven't they relaeased a complete dvd set of the Ewok and Droids cartoon series. I thought those were pretty good at the time. Heck, they are relasing the first season of the Smurfs. Anyway, I also like both of the Ewok movies, and yes, even though they were made for tv, and for families and children, the special effects for both of them being that the were not flashy, won Emmy Awards. The prequels on the other hand, have all these advances and they didn't one in any one of them, heck on the last one they weren't even nominated for one.

Umm, you do know that when they came out (the Ewok movies) that there was very little special effect work done on TV even close to LFL-level. Of course they won. Now, with the prequels, virtually (no pun intended) EVERY film uses SFX and CGI work -- and the vast majority of it (eg, literally every "blockbuster" this past summer except Spidey3) is done by Lucas's companies. There's a MUCH larger base of competition, so it's not surprising if they're not award winners. But the companies -- Skywalker Sound, ILM, etc -- consistently are.

But as a final point -- awards mean precisely crap. They are little more than Hollywood patting itself on the back for what great jobs they've all done. Technical awards are a little more realistic with respect to merit, and legitimately good productions can and do on occasion win awards, but still, awards =/= good.
