I would be okay with a movie where the Predator slaughters every single human character.

I guess they have to give it a subtitle or a number cuz they've literally had Predator, Predators and The Predator. Unless they call this The Predators. Or maybe it'll just be called Skulls...? Nah, Predator: Skulls kinda works.

So went through a Predator (and 2 AvP!) rewatch on Disney Plus Star, one thing that actually comes out when you watch Predators and The Predator back 2 back is that the Predators evolving and upgrading themselves and the inter-Predator war shows up in Predators first and then is elaborated on in The Predator so maybe a coincidence but it actually compliments each other well. And I like to think the Predator blaster taken at the end of AvP:R is the one that they have in the compound in The Predator that the hero uses. (edit: also just found a link to the screenwriter of The Predator describing the original ending and how they had nothing to do with the final scene)

Anyway, there's actually a lawsuit by the original "Hunter" screenwriters to get the rights back from Disney, even though Disney is saying they're currently still using The Predator rights and making a new movie. I was wondering, watching Predator 2 (one of the best shots in the series is in that movie when the Predator is stomping in the water and the lighting sparks from it's camouflage, really great, someone use that bit again) if the old timey spin-off prequel will delve into this weapon that Harrigan is given at the end of the film

Apparently there's a comic about that but I'd be cool if the new movie connects to that bit.

Good luck going against Disney, being realistic they don’t have a chance.

Legion's Amber Midthunder will be the Skulls lead!

Following the success of 10 Cloverfield Lane, director Dan Trachtenberg’s take on Predator has been in the works since 2016 – long before the last film by Shane Black ever released. We have been following the project since late-2019, as we discovered the film’s title under the code name Skulls. Although, it seems they are still keeping this working title, which could suggest that Skulls may actually be what it’s called, but that’s just a guess for the time being.

This new Predator film is set to follow a Comanche woman who goes against the gender norms and traditions of her tribe to become a warrior. No other plot details or a potential release date are known yet, despite principal photography very close to beginning.

Patrick Aison is writing the screenplay. He has previously been a co-executive producer for USA’s Treadstone, supervising producer/writer for Amazon’s Jack Ryan and a consultant for Legion – tying back to Midthunder’s involvement.

John Davis will produce the film under the Davis Entertainment production banner. He has previously produced Chronicle, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Predator, Shaft, and Dolemite Is My Name. He also recently produced Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise for Disney.

She's aces in Legion, there's a S2 fight scene she has which is just amazing. Really looking forward to it even more now.

For those looking for a more nuanced performance, I've been enjoying her in the Roswell reboot on The CW as well.

They’ve done well to get the chance to make another one because I felt that the last one would kill the franchise off, it was that bad.

I really liked the action in the last one, but I must admit even though they were good the characters where not what I’d expect from a predator movie and generally felt out of place.

then again I’m pretty keen for this franchise to step away from the commandos in a jungle thing that it’s done twice now.

Hulu exclusive was another headline I saw there which like 90% means it would also be Disney Plus Star, if it happens to go to streaming. If anything it would have a franchise tentpole flick on Hulu/D+Star

    Bold statements! https://collider.com/predator-new-movie-title-skull-origin-story-plot-details-timeline-female-lead/

“It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work,” Davis told Collider in the midst of promoting Disney’s Jungle Cruise. “It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force. It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon. You’ll know what I mean once you see it.”

“It’s going to be, I believe, the second best – or the first… or it may be equal to the first one. Right? I feel like the first one was a wonderful, interesting movie and I know what worked about it. I feel like we kind of never got back there again. We ended up in different places. I think this is a worthy complement to the first one. It’s going to be as good.”

    Hello

    Cool thread, think ill follow

I have an idea for a predator film

Basically the survivurs of predator 3 film arrive at area 51 in a space ship. They meet the characters from predator 4. Cameos include Arnold and glover. Need a say more, cause that's all I got

This new film could be alright I guess

Bold. Probably too bold… but at least he’s recognizing that part of the first one’s charm (and that of the other films in their bright spots) was giving you a hero developed just enough that when they start fighting back smart, you’re re-engaged in a while new way.

Yep. And, I'm very excited about the "early" time period.

I kind of hope the Predator here is “restrained” in his tech to match the time period - no laser cannon, no robotic disks, and maybe even either no camouflage or limited use of it… then once our protagonist/s proves themselves exceptionally “worthy”, reverse how the fight with Arnold went in the first film, and have the Predator actually armor up to go after them (at least to find them; maybe they ditch some of their tech again for the actual fight.)

In the comics, the Predators often only use the weapons that are also available to their prey. Which goes back to them not killing someone who isn't armed. The Predators are sporting, and like a challenge. Hopefully, they'll stick to that lore.
