    Hi All,
I was looking over a post from youtube''s Star Wars Meg, where she said hoped that all future projects were more like Andor. I STRONGLY disagree with this, there I did enjoy season two. I replied to this and copied here to see what everyone thought. Post is below. Oh, and for the record, my favorite SW youtuber would be Star Wars Explained, who is fair, entertaining and very informative, imo.

I still prefer Ashoka over Andore, but it was good to see something more mature.

I'll take it a step further and say that I prefer The Acolyte, The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Kenobi, Skeleton Crew, Clone Wars, Rebels, Tales---over Andor. It's not that I don't like Andor, but it has it's share of problems. For starters, it just doesn't *feel* like Star Wars to me, and I know I;m not alone in this. Where are the droids? The aliens? Star Destroyers or any big fleets? It's all talk talk talk talk talk. It's pacing is sluggish, and the melodrama at times feels like "Days of Our Lives" in space. And the whole subplot about Mon's bratty daughter seemed to distracting and drawn out. I don't need things like morning talk shows in Star Wars--it just seems out of place. In season one we had at least three episodes "building up" Aldhani where a bunch characters in the woods bickered and bitched about whether or not they could trust Cassian or not,, which was boring until the payoff ep. So what do we get right away in season 2? A bunch of characters in the woods bickering and wondering of they can trust Cass. How refreshing! And oh, btw, since when do TIE ighters hold 30 people?? Especially when Cass aappeared to cramped when is escaping/. Is it a TIE freighter?? And it lacks pace and, yes, fan service ! I LOVE the way the other shows incorporate various shows/characters. comics, Legends etc. The connectivity and Easter eggs are a big part of the fun for me. That, and a fun, relelntless pace. Andor lacks both of these things.

I'm not saying that I hated it, but to me it's not even CLOSE to being the best SW show. The Saw Gerrara parts were great, and I wish there would have been more of them. I loved seeing K-2SO again, and wish there would have been more of him. And yes, the fx were pretty amazing, but if you expect me to say they were better than Mando season 3, Ahsoka or even Skeleton Crew, I won't,

like everyone I re-watched Rogue One after Andor season 2, and was blown away and how fast it was, how right the action and fan service all felt. Kind've the same way I felt about episode 2 (though I know a lot of people dont't like it), despite the romance scenes.

I'm guess what I'm sayng is I don't think SW is in all that bad of shape. If you liked the Acolyte--and more of us did than you think--then June 2024 through June 2025 was a GREAT time for SW, because Skeelton Crew was amazing, so was Tales of the Underworld, and yes Andor. And I'm sure as hell looking forward to 2026 with Ahsoka season two, the Mando movie and especially the MAUL series!!

I'm gonna say no. It's a decent show, but it doesn't really feel exactly like SW to me, the pacing is too slow. Contrast with say The Mandalorian, that feels far more like Star Wars to me.

Andor is more like A new hope than acolyte or Ashoka and I love them all, but Andor the most by far and certainly the deepest star wars has hit me since age 8 in 1980
Andor has the same aesthetic as a new hope and maybe a similar tone than a new hope would had pre Mrs Lucas' Edit. And before George realised how much money was in toy merchandising. It may have been made for 12 year olds but the rebels were still based on the Viet Cong and world events of dictatorship and authoritarianism. Very adult themrs. The adults who watched the original star wars prob saw it much like we are seeing Andor now, the space wizard aspect definitely on the back burner
It's why many older original fans couldn't get with the prequels as they looked too much like computer games which have now been in our youth culture of graphics for so long now.
In a way Andor and Rogue one are like star wars before a new hope, both in terms of Time line and spirituality. Itd like star wars if released in 1976 almost. Andor is basically Solo before he meets Luke and an old fossil the other shows are like comics Andor is like Shakespeare. The prequels like unscripted greek tragedy, the originals... westerns...the irony is Lucas wanted them to be escapist but at it's heart like a revolution..so Andor is about as far away and about as near to star wars in its purest form as we've been since those years 77-80.. when some people didn't feel Empire felt like star wars

The Empire Strikes Back is the greatest Star Wars. Now if you're just referring to what Disney has done with SW then yes, Andor is the best thing they've done. Do I want all future SW to be just like Andor? No, of course not, unless of course this Meg person is just referring to the quality of the writing in which case I would agree with her. Other than that I want variety in my SW.

When you saw the originals is a good point. I saw ANH when I was 13. Funny aside is that my parents saw tt before me and said they hated it. Meanwhile, in '78 I loved Jason of Star Command and Quark. My friends heard this and told me that if I liked those, then I just had to see SW. which I did, and loved it of course. But I still I think I go into any SW project with the mindset of a 13 year old. I want it to be fast-paced fun space opera first and foremost.

I was one of those who camped out for Phantom Menace tickets, and actually loved the PT for what it was. Admittedly, things like Jar Jar and the AOTC love plot were a bit hard to take, but then there were things like Maul vs Qui Gon/Ovi Won, Jango Fett vs Ovi Won, the Battle of Geonosis and pretty much all of ROTS that made them worth it for me.

You know, I used to enjoy her, but she seems to have become too negative lately. I would also prefer stronger conteent rather dailu, just for the sale pf being daily, if that makes sense.

To me, no. It's a solid show in a vacuum, it's a well-crafted show, and I wish for all live-action Star Wars to have this level of financial investment, care and professionalism, but I don't think it's a particularly great Star Wars show. It's so fundamentally divorced from the rest of Star Wars in almost every way—stylistically, tonally, aesthetically, visually, in a lot of ways thematically—that it's hard for me to consider it as a part of the same universe. It's not something I, personally, will revisit often. Unlike George's six movies and Clone Wars, for example, that are my personal go-to Star Wars. However, on the level of craftsmanship alone, it's the best live-action Star Wars show, by far. Well, of course, since it cost $650 million dollars to make. I can agree with the sentiment that it's the best Disney Star Wars live-action show. But is this the greatest Star Wars ever? Definitely not to me.
