Here is informations regarding the creature known as a house centipede:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_centipede

In my room, this summer, so far, I have spotted 4 house centipedes. All have been defeated. However, let it be known that house centipedes are elusive, deceptive, and gifted with speed. It is 99% certain that there are more house centipedes in this house, and in all probability, within my very room.

I believe the house centipede to be among the grossest of small creatures. Oh, a small to medium sized spider in the room ay? Whatever. I do not care. Oh, an ant ay? Ha ha ha, so what? Oh, a praying mantis ay? That's cool. Oh, a fly ay? Annoying, but eh! The house centipede though, bleck ick bleck ick bleck ick. It is the horrible creature. It is having all sorts of gross legs and crawling about and being like a centipede and stuff and is all bleck. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them.

Because of the fact that I am constantly aware that there is probably a house centipede or more within my room, and because of the fact that I constantly have a can of soda in my room, which I drink, within my mind the possibility has arisen that a house centipede will for some reason venture into the interior of my soda can and fall into the beverage, where it will flounder or swim about, until I accidentally drink it, after which I will freak out and be annoyed and have to pour the remainder of the soda down the sink. So lots of times before I take a sip of soda I think "well, hope there isn't a centipede in my soda, that would be annoying." My mind has thus far been unable to convince myself that this a logical or realistic or probable event, but it is an unpleasant image to conjure, even if science shows us that the possibility of a centipede going into a soda can is only 5%.

Does anybody else feel this way about centipedes and sodas!

If your concern is regarding another insect, you can talk on that subject as well. Also, shut up about a centipede not being an insect cause of it has all sorts of legs, I know this, but I did not feel like saying "Or other small creature, such as an insect?" in my thread title. So there.

Or, learn to absorb the power of the centipede and become a superhero. Mix them with orange juice and youd be a healthy superhero to boot.

pour the soda into a glass so you can see the centipede swimming in it and will be less grossed out since you didn't drink it?

Not going to read that for fear of being overly grossed out, but I will offer my defense of the house centipede.

While I've been surpised by the little buggers, I usually only catch them and release them outside. I'm much less afraid and creeped out by them then spiders, and if they decide to munch on a few of those in the house, more power to them.

Get some snakes to take care of them. Then get a gorilla to take care of the snake. Then get an elephant to stomp the gorilla.

I found a small bee in my rum last night. Or more aptly, I didn't find it until it was in my mouth.

    Talk about ruining a buzz.

Whoa, that pun wasn't even intended.

Not too concerned about drinking one. More concerned about coming home after school to see a giant one hanging from my kitchen ceiling, ready to drop on my head! :(

I didn't like them at all until I read this in the Wikipedia article:

House centipedes feed on bedbugs, termites, cockroaches, silverfish and other household pests. They kill their prey by injecting venom through their fangs and then eating the dead prey.

Now I'm never killing one again. I didn't know they were insectivores. I am not at all pertrubed by spiders because they eat insects that might otherwise get into food and cause sickness, and which are generally gross little bugs. Now I'll just chase off the house centipedes I find so they can get on with killing all the bugs I decided don't want in my house.

Thanks for this informative thread :p
