Regal Union Square Stadium 14 (850
Broadway, New York, New York 10003)

I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with this theater and could offer their opinions of it's quality...

I prefer to go to digital shows only and I usually go to a few places in New Jersey.

And yes, I'm a bit critical of theaters... I was just curious about how modern, how nice, how well kept it is...
I honestly know nothing about the place (For all I know it could be a palace or a shack).

May the force be with you.

In my opinion, this is actually one of the better theaters in manhattan. the theaters are all of good size and have stadium seating, and the upkeep, in my experience, is not lacking. i am, in fact, seeing my first viewing of ROTS at this theater. the only possible downside is that they don't seem to know this far in advance which show times will be shown in digital. as far as i can tell, they only have one digital screen, and while it will no doubt be used to show ROTS, i have gambled that my show time will win the digital lottery.

    Thanks a lot Echo!

I'll definately head over there (At least once).

Yeah, none of the movie houses ever seem to know which theater the midnight shows will be in when they first put them on sale.
They don't realize how much some of us care, hehe.

Hopefully it will be the digital theater.
I gambled for the theater in Edgewater, just because we'll be leaving from somewhere in New Jersey for the midnight show.
I'm betting that will be in their digital theater, but I'll have to wait and see.

It usually comes down to whether or not the digital theater has a good amount of seats in it.

The other digital theater in New Jersey (Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth) has their digital projector in a very small 200 seat theater, so I wouldn't bet on them having a midnight show in there, unless they run two midnight shows.

If you know how large or small the Regal Square's digital theater is, that may answer your question.

At least, for the first night, it doesn't matter as much... but yes, it's my plan to see it in a digital theater for the first time as well.

*EDIT* (Oh, never mind I just re-read your post and noticed you weren't speciffically talking about the midnight shows! I'll leave my post like this for anyone else it may help, good luck on your digital theater lottery!)

    Thanks again!

May the force be with you.

I love that theater. Rooms 3 and 8 used to be THX certified but have lost certification. Doesn't matter. Crystal clear digital sound and great projection all around, comfortable high-back seats with flip-up armrests, and best location (IMHO) in Manhattan as far as after-theater food and activities are concerned. :)

*Bows toward Obiwil* Right you are Rms. 3 and 8 are the best in the place. And yes the after theater activities are rather abundant.

was just on the phone with an employee at the Union Sq theater. she said that ROTS will not be showing on their digital screen at all, rather in the 2 largest theaters (the ones with the balconies, she said).

has anyone else gotten this information? does anyone know what number theater has the digital projector?

That seems a bit sacrilegious, as the word is that the digital version of the movie is actually longer than the non-digital version.

I wonder if they're aware of this... :)
