Is C3PO made of gold?

I have always wondered about this.

I was also wondering why Luke didn't melt him down in ANH and sell the gold. I bet he would have been worth a lot.

Even so, who says gold is valuable in the GFFA?

There could be whole planets there that have abundances of gold. Maybe diamonds there aren't worth bantha poodoo.

 

Probably not gold, as it's dense, heavy stuff. Also, it would probably not be cost-effective; I'd imagine that no matter how plentiful it is, the components of bronze would be even more common, and thus cheaper.

 

C-3PO's plating was made from bronze. He was filled with circuits.

 

So i take it that C3po's bronze plating was put on sometime after Episode 2? Or was he cleaned up and the grey plating we saw in E2 was tarnished in some way?

Parts not shown in the movie (the books coverd this)talked about Shmi putting on the plating and finishing where anakin left off. Was there (or will be) a different plating put on him in E3?

 

Isn't he shiny at the end or Ep.II?
