Why wouldn't he be. I do think you need to give us more to go on, if you want an actual debate.

Was the character at the end of AotC that met with Sidious a clone? I'd say probably not.

If you mean something else please explain.

Well people are always debating if Sidious and Palpatine are indeed the same, and it occured to me that while I'm pretty sure dooku is Tyrannus, it is at least for the sake of discussion fun to make an arguement for the alternative.

After all Jango referred to him as Tyrannus on Kamanio,

I think Count Dooku is Darth Tyranus. First we are introduced to a "political idealist" named Count Dooku. Later, Jango Fett tells Obi-Wan he was recruited by a man called Tyranus, leaving us to wonder who that could be. At the end of the film Darth Sideous refers to Count Dooku as Lord (Darth) Tyranus. Now we know that the man who recruited Jango Fett was indeed Count Dooku.

yeah this thread has a lot less potential then i originally surmized, I think I'm jsut baffled that peopel ares till debating whether palpatine=sidious, so i thought it would work to start a debate about another character.

I have a feeling that Dooku is Tyrannus. After all, Jango was hired by "Tyrannus", and we see him hanging out with Dooku on Geonosis. Also, Sidious says, "Welcome home, Lord Tyrannus", which leads me to believe that Dooku is, in fact, Tyrannus.

I think the whole Palpatine thing is thrown in for the off chance that someone is actually viewing the movies from episode 1 on. It's really meant to make people think they are not the same person because it is obvious. But it does make sense that Palpatine would have to hide his identity to do what he is doing.

Hmmm. Maybe Sidious only called Dooku "Lord Tyranus" to throw off possible spy-cams and recording devices in the building...

I personally think Lucas is trying to be mysterious with the inevitable revelation that Palpatine and Sidious are one and the same person, to keep people in the dark when they watch the entire saga in numerical order for the first time.

    Damn, that's a long sentance.

Anyway...you see what I mean. They Palp/Sid thing is one of the surprises for people that see the PT before the OT. For people that have seen the OT first, it can sometimes seem a little too obvious so they come up with wacky theories like clones and force ghosts etc.

    And Dooku is definitely Tyrannus.

I think the pT might never reveal that palpy is sidious, we might have to wait till ESB to figure it out.

I do think there is a chance of that, yes. Maybe not the most likely, but still a chance.

    Yes he is

That is why GL has purposely shown us the trip Dooku takes from Geonosis to Coruscant: we see him board the ship, we see him travel to coruscant and then meet his master.

I didn't realize that this would even be considered otherwise. No, we don't see him say "I, Darth Tyranus, formerly Count Dooku, would like to announce my plans to overthrow Darth Sidious, currently also Supreme Chancellor Palpatine," but I think we can rightfully assume they are the same, just as we can pretty much assume that Anakin is Vader and that Palps is Sidious. Okay, So vader TELLS us that he is Anakin, but still...the story tells us that Dooku is Tyranus, I need no further explanation.

"We do reveal that Dooku is Darth Tyranus, he's a Sith Lord, and that he's in league with Darth Sidious and Darth Sidious is pulling all the strings and everything is going just the way he wants them to go. The Emperor continues to pull the strings."

Its interesting that GL continues to be ambiguous when he says that "the Emperor continues to pull the strings". As of Ep. II, officially there is no Emperor. Why deosn't he say "Sidious is pulling the strings"?

I think tyranus just used the method of veiling himself as dooku....same way sidious uses palpatine. except dooku reveals himself as tyranus(darklord) much sooner than palpatine will reveal himself in 3 as a darklord.

Lucas did say that Sidious is pulling the strings, then said that the Emperor is pulling the strings. It's not the first time in the audio commentary that Lucas called Sidious the Emperor. I more quotes on that. I was have quotes that Lucas calls Palpatine the Emperor.

What's that D_Lowe? The last few words don't make much sense. Are you trying to suggest that Lucas has said that Sidious is the Emperor, but hasn't yet said that Palpatine is Sidious?

Yes, Dooku is Lord Tyrannus, because at the end of the movie "Darth Sidious says welcome home Lord Tyrannus." Which leaves me to believe that Dooku/Tyrannus are the same persons.

"Introducing Darth Sidious as a hologram was the way he was introduced actually in Empire Strikes Back, which was the first time we actually saw him in the first three films, so I thought it appropriate to keep that thematic device going so that we only know him as a hologram and not actually deal with him, except in one small scene as a real person, because I did want to make sure you knew that he wasn't just a hologram. Make him sort of flesh and blood."

Here you go Mr E! :)
