The story The Eyes of Revolution in the new Star Wars: Visionaries tpb tells how Grievous became what he is. Without going into spoilers, I can say that based on that story Grievous is not
    Sifo-Dyas.

According to EU, Dooku killed Sifo Dyas. It's what marked his first act as a Sith. Though some of you don't believe in EU.

He's the one that ordered the clone army, thus eliminating the Jedi Rainy Day Fund....

Well you know what they say. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

No, Sifo was killed by Dooku and GG was a soldier on some other planet and he was in an accident and he was given a biotech suit thing like Vader.

    Good Stuff

Wow, I thought the book, Labyrinth of Evil would finally
put an end to all the Sifo Dias misconceptions....guess not.[face_plain]

According to the EU, the accident that Grevious was in wasn't an accident. It was planned by Palps and Dooku I think.

Wow, a lot of us haven't read the book... If GL authorized someone to write a book and that is in it, then I'll accept it just fine. However, I think it's a lame cop-out on a character who could be a lot more interesting just to say that it was Dooku's "rite of passage" despite the fact that it doesn't seem to fit with the timelin in my perspective. Obi-Wan seemed to know OF Sifo-Dyas, but did not seem to be a contemporary of him. Additionally, if Sifo-Dyas was a ranking Jedi as all information indicates, wouldn't Obi-Wan know more about his death?

    Jebus Frigging Bananas!

General Grievous will always be General Grievous, the cyborg Kaleesh warlord. He's not Syfo-Dyas, he's not Darth Maul, and he certainly isn't Jango Fett. I don't know what is so hard to understand about that... [face_frustrated]

    Yup....well said.

Sifo-dias was a Jedi master who was killed by Count Dooku. There is a great explanation of
this event in the book Labyrinth of Evil. Yes, its an EU book, and it wasn't written by George
Lucas himself, but since he hasn't come out and said, "AHHHHH don't belive James Luceno!!!!",
    I'll take it.

I don't think it would be that hard to assume some jedi walked
up to Obi-wan and said, "Sup, hey did you know Sifo-Dias was killed?"
