Wow, I'm surprised at the hostility to microwaving waffles here.

When I was a little kid, I used to do it exclusively. Nowadays what I do is toast them, then put butter and syrup on them, and then toss them in the microwave for fifteen seconds to get the syrup hot and the butter melted.

I've microwaved them before, it was those kind you're supposed to microwave, but since that was the only time I've ever eaten waffles it counts.
