Is Jamie Hyneman Stuckup?

I was trying to sell my sister on Mythbusters, a show I feel is one of the most original on TV, and she said she can't watch the show because Jamie is obnoxiously snotty. I always thought he was just quiet and particular, but I think I am biased.

and of all the people on that show she is put off by Jamie?!? I would have figured it would be Adam.

 

I think he's a condescending jerk.

That little redhead and him need to get together for a night. Maybe he'd loosen up a bit.

No. Its called comedy. Jamie is the straight man. Adam is the funny man.

 

Adam is kinda hot.

 

It's true... I am such a geek... Also Jamie is like 53 something so in his age he is kinda a stuck up. Adam is just too immature for his age of 34 I think??? EIther way, they both are cool and the show just rocks!!!

 

Who? I don't know who this girl is, and don't care.

 

All I know is that he better have a severely deformed upper lip, because there is NO OTHER JUSTIFICATION for that 'stache.

I guess I could see how he could be considered stuck-up, but really, it doesn't bother me...

 

I just want to slap that stupid beret off the top of his stupid artsy-fartsy head.

Have you seen the show? Prancing around San Francisco in latex body suits is not what I call straight.

 

my mum was so sure they were gay against eachother because they filled the obvious criteria of 1) living in san francisco and 2) being two men. but apparently he has a wife?

i think his beret and moustache are endearing.

Of course Jamie is an jerk but that's what makes the show interesting. You have Adam who is fun and very down to earth. And then you have yin's yang, Jamie who is almost an inhuman robot who hates everyone and thinks he is always right. It's that condescending tone he often uses that may bother your sister.
Anyway, I thinked he has loosened up over the seasons and he likes Adam a little more.

 

The tache maketh the man.



It's really just the stark contrast of personality's between Jamie and Adam that makes him seem more stuckup as you described. I think the show works with the two of them beautifully, and I just take it for that: a good show.
