I just saw the ending of AOTC again and after Obiwan says "I must admit, without the clones it would not have been a victory", yoda answers: "Victory? MASTER Obiwan, not victory..."

I've never noticed that before. IS Obi wan a jedi master at the end of this movie?

The question has been successfully answered to the authors liking. :)

From the official site (over here)

The term "Master" is occasionally used as an honorific to a teaching Knight -- especially by non-Jedi -- even if he has not yet achieved the status of Jedi Master. Obi-Wan Kenobi never achieves the formal rank of Jedi Master.

    :)

No,Palpatine & Padme call him Master Kenobi in the beginning and Jango Fett calls him Master Jedi in his little apartment. i think he was a master the whole time, he just wasnt on the council if thats what your thinking.

C3PO called Anakin "Master Ani" so it depends.

Uh, that's because Anakin is 3PO's Master, just like Luke and Leia later on...

There are two reasons why Obi-Wan Kenobi never achieves the status of a formal Jedi Master (thus a member of the Order capable of joining the Council):

    1. He never successfully trains a Jedi Padawan under his mentorship.

    2. Although his tremendously bold leadership in the midst of the Clone Wars should've granted him the title he was never established as a true "Master" because he was a General under Bail Organa.

By the end of Ep3, Obi-Wan will be the second most important Jedi left alive.Titles don't really matter after that.

In AOTC, everyone calls Obi-Wan "Master Kenobi", so I'd consider him a Jedi Master, the same as Qui-Gon Jinn - who never made it onto the Council either.

No offence, Vaders_leash, but if you follow Darth China's link above, it says on the Official Site that Obi-Wan never reached the rank of Jedi Master, so it's wrong to assume he was at the same level as Qui-Gonn.

And of course, Vader refers to the Emperor as master. I don't belive Palpatine was ever a Jedi.

Taun We had no idea who Obi-Wan was - I think it was again an honourific title of Master.
