Is Padme a boy's first crush?

I guess this could go in TPM or AOTC. I'm putting it here because Padme was hotter in AOTC and didn't spend all that time in funny makeup.

One of the cute, perhaps overly-romanticized stories about the OT was that young boys would develop crushes on Princess Leia.

JC from N-SYNC says Princess Leia was his first crush.
Some guy says Carrie/Leia was his first crush.
Ewan McGregor says... something on the subject.

You know. Like I've got now, except I'm 20 and pathetic.

So... kids seem to like these new Star Wars movies. On the other hand, kids today also have the Britney Spearses and Hilary Duffs of the world to have crushes on; sexy female images are easier to find in the media today than they were in 1977, no?

So... I guess most of the posters here on the JC are too old to have had their first crush on a girl come in 1999 or later.

But does anyone have an opinion on this idea? Or perhaps a cute story of, say, a little brother falling in love with Padme and suddenly not saying "Ewwww, girls are icky!" as much as he used to?

Lol, nice thread. I'd have to say that when I was 10 years old, Padmé definitely left an impression on me in Phantom Menace. I think it was then, when I thought, "Hmmm, maybe girls aren't so bad after all."

 

My little brother's first crush was and still is Natalie Portman/Padme.

 

Well, Padme is my 2343546786786th crush (and I'm 30ish and pathetic) but it's still valid!

No. Not mine. I had my first crush when I was 9, she was 8.

Padmé's nice (especially in TPM), but nothing special compared to the girls I saw everyday.

Just IMHO.

I think Padme is ANY male's permanent crush. I certainly suffer from that condition....

So how does one define a crush? Is it an immature, unrecipitated infatuation? Or is it squeezing something too tightly? Seriously though, what's in a crush, and why is Padme the subject of so many?
