    I don't think so.

But back in 1996 or 1995 ( I was already a huge fan) some people came to my Junior High School(Greece) to talk about satanism. In a tape they showed some metal bands(not all satanic imo), Michael Jackson(not satanic imo), some real satanic rituals and the final duel between Vader and Luke in ROTJ !!!

I just wanted you to know this-do you think it's a reason that no so many people here(Greece) know of Starwars (yet in 1999 and 2002 it theatres were packed!)?
If you don't care answering the previous , can you imagine a reason why the duel should be mentioned as satanic?

Dunno. Maybe they think Vader is the devil and Luke is the angel.

    Meditate on this, I will.

Satanic? I don't think so. Lots of great stories have the "good vs. evil" plot. Can't have one without the other.

As I said earlier I was a huge fan of starwars because of the "good vs evil" plot. My father introduced me to the world of starwars and I still wonder how could anyone not notice the good vs evil plot.

Sure it is. Play the entire dialogue from the droid auction backwards and you will hear Beelzebub commanding you to spill the blood of the infidels.
The only ones who see things as satanic are those ultra-conservative religious folk who play rock music backwards and tell the kids that it is sending evil subliminal messages. Anyone from Zed Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Judas Priest, to Michael Jackson and Britney Spears are a target. They also view a movie with any evil characters and view them as tools of the devil. I listen to metal and watch Star Wars, I'm no satanist.

Star Wars isn't satanic? What? George Lucas isn't either? What?!

*throws down his Vader voodoo doll* [face_devil] :(

*sighs* Guess I'm no longer a Star Wars fan...I was only in it for the fiery backgrounds, the gory violence, the seemingly unending profanity, demon-like aliens, visions of sulfur pits, hellish red lightsabers, and blantant use of drugs such as death sticks.

    :p

Give me a break...next they'll be saying that Palpatine is the Antichrist and Jar-Jar is a blood-sucking vampire... [face_laugh]

*holds a stake and a necklace of garlic*

*shrugs* Hey, ya never know... "Meesa want to suck yousa's bloodsa!" :p

Wish I had gone to that school.

I also listen to heavy metal and watch SW but I'm not a satanist and SW is not Satanic. people can try and find hidden meanings in anything if they take the time to look hard enough but those meanings are all in the searcher's mind.

SW isn't satanic IMO ... it's just got the normal good/evil plot that people like. The fact that the baddies are cool doesn't make it satanic.

    Well don't I feel dumb. I've spent the last few years sacrificing lambs every time I get the (demonic) urge to watch SW. 8-}

Calling Star Wars satanic is even more ludicrous than calling Harry Potter satanic. And that's saying something.

I watch Star Wars, listen to metal occasionally, and have played Dungeons and Dragons most of my life. I AM the Devil!

Lol, seriously. These are the same people who boycotted the Smurfs in the 80's because Papa Smurf employed black magic.... 'nuff said.

Calling Star Wars is absurd. It seems some people will use any excuse to blast something that is very popular.

Well those of us who play D&D don't know we're satanic.

Reminds me of the Dead Ale Wives' D&D Skit:D

I read an article this weekend (in a greek magazine) that some members of a Church in Alamogordo in New Mexico have burned ,in public in 2001, starwars VHS , Harry Potter's books , Tolkien books and William Shakespear's writings!!! Can this be the truth?//there is a photo of Yoda and Mace in the funeral!!

side note: the article is about the censorship in USA.
edit: can you notice the paraller between the burning of VHS and the funeral?

They burned it! How awkward and not cool. They burned Shakespeare! What are these conservative religious people thinking! Shakespeare is like god right there next to George Lucas.......I mean Satan is god.....wait, no......God is God.......

    Excuse me while I sort out my religions. 8-}

The extremist CHristian movement tends to shout before it even looks at something. I know, my older brother is one of those guys shouting.

He told me Star Wars is Satanic because of the Force stuff. I told him that Christmas Trees were Satanic because they were used by the Celts at first in religious ceremonies. And that's a fact, whereas his statement was not.

But don't criticize fundamentalist Christians, please. I've heard some nasty comments here, and not all "extremists" like myself say Star Wars is Satanic.

I don't like Harry Potter, D&D, Ouigi Boards, and Smurfs. But even my Pastor says there's nothing wrong with SW, and he's pretty conservative, as in no rock&roll in his house.

So as you can see, saying Star Wars is Satanic is like saying that one saw Elvis last week, in person.

While I of course totally disagree with this notion about SW being satanic I nevertheless would like to clarify the argumentation behind this claim. Some posters here seem to misunderstand the claim. having "evil" characters does not make a story "satanic" as otherwise the bible would also be be satanic. The argument behind Harry Potter and SW being satanic is the use of "magic" (and the force is essentially nothing else but magic with a different name tag). This is regarded as "black arts" and stories where heroes use magic to achieve their goals are therefore often seen as "satanic". For this reason Tolkien is usually regarded as "not satanic" since in LOTR magic is not regarded as a solution and never used by the heroes (check it, it's true). The main hero, Frodo, even outright rejects magic as a way to achieve his goal, Aragorn rejects using the magic of the ring to destroy Sauron etc.

Once again, not my opinion but only a clarification of how these people think.

That's mostly true, but while Gandalf didn't go around throwing as many spells as you would expect a "wizard" to, he did use some magic. The light incantation in Moria, and the fight against the Balrog come to mind (and yes, I'm referring to the books and not the movies). Not to mention Galadriel and Elrond.

For that matter, in the Bible, many prophets, including Moses, would do things such as turning sticks to snakes, parting a sea. Even Jesus turned water into wine and made 2 loaves of bread and a couple of fish feed many people. If it wasn't called the "power of God", it'd be called sorcery.
