Just a thought but do you think there is a lot of people that have suit like Vader's? People that were close to death but saved thanks to a life support suit? Or is Vader's one of kind?
Maybe they all look different but a hand full of people need them. Maybe someone has one that is clear.

One of a kind, most definitely.

    That's not really fair
If Luke didn't burn it, the new leaders could have looked in to making them for other dieing people.
    Damn you Luke!

Overalll design of the armor? Definitely a one off production. I always go the feeling that the helmet/mask portion of the suit was older Sith design that was integrated into the life-support suit's overall build.

As for life-support suits in general, I suspect there may be more than one of them out there. More than likely the techno-union sold life-support suits before the Clone Wars and I can see the Empire keeping them in production, but under tighter control of who can receive one.

well, other injured ppl used other cyborg parts... like hands, eyes, canons instead of heads etc etc.
and remember: after falling into the magma, he wouldn't have survived if he didn't have the force to protect him and keep him alive untill the suit was ready.
and not many force-sensitives fall into magma.
    and all the others die.

I think the technology was common but the style was unique. Vader had to represent the Emperor and the Imperial system. I think the look of the suit represents that.

The suit was also designed to at least look like the normal Sith robes that Anakin would have worn if it wasn't for his accident. Haven't you ever noticed how the helmet looked like a Jedi/Sith hood?

Yes, and Anakin's outfit in AOTC has similar echos of it with the leather.

I think Vader's outfit has some pretty complicated and possibly even arcane elements to it that would make it a real headache to duplicate. Perhaps only someone using the Dark Side could do it.

I think Vader's suit is a one of a kind due to the fact that he IS the personification of the Empire to the Public and thus the appearance of the suit reflects the Imperial Machine however I think there were other life support suits at that time.

Of course it's one of a kind. Who would want to wear a Vader suit?
