Isn't the dark side the same as chaos worship in warhammer?

ok that's all i got, but overall don't they seem to mirror each other in a way. Maybe the dark side being a bit more subtle since chaos gods tend to be more direct. Im not all that well versed in warhammer since i only ever played some of the games and read a few wiki articles. I don't won't a contest of which franchise is better or anything, i just wanna know if anyone sees the similarities.

Well it was formed in 1987, so there is some definite influence after star wars popularity.

An interesting fact in terms of gaming - Star Wars battlefront, if you have played it online is never short of players and it needs 30.
Take into account a game like call of duty which is a huge multiplayer game, but star wars battlefront simply dwarfs it in terms of players per day and its only a recent game.

I'm well-versed in Warhammer 40K from the books - not much into the gaming side of it. However from what I've seen of the Chaos side I think the Sith are more cunning and are smarter (most of them, anyway). A lot of the Chaos minions seem to be mindless attack forces. Also the Sith we have seen so far in the films are at least humanoid, if not human. You can't really say that about some of the Chaos big guns. I'd see them as more demonic in appearance and not necessarily resembling a humanoid.
