Why do people always have to refer to action figures as dolls? They're not. If anything, they're more like articulated figurines.

It's one of those things that gets to me. And no, I'm not some self-defensive toy collector, it's just that the idea of confusing this:

    With this:

Has always seemed rather semantically silly to me.

They're both for kids, so it doesn't matter to me.

"A doll is a child's toy that represents a baby or other human being, but could also be any animal or imaginary creature."

And we're all posting on a Star Wars message board, so what's the difference?

Actually, I don't collect toys as much any more. But with the way Toy Fair is shaping up, that might change.

I have the "action figures" I got when I was 12, and I'm still a huge SW fan. Enough to forgive GL for the PT, but I haven't bought any toys since I was 17.

I probably would be a bit more comfortable playing with the action figure one.

But barbies are articulated. I had ones with bendy knees and elbows and such.

I love the "HAHA! You're a Nerd!" hypocrisy that fills these boards. They bring me hours of ironic entertainment.

My nerdy pursuits are of things I can actually use (i.e. be entertained by). Not things that will collect dust on my shelves or may not even be unwrapped.

Action figures are male and dolls are female

Not all dolls are ******-looking. Some look vaguely like babies.

What difference does that make? 'Entertainment' is in the eye of he beholder.

There seems to be an assumpton that anyone who still collects 'action figures' and is older than 20 is somehow really sad. Well I'm pretty successful, if I do say so myself, in my late 20's, and I have a huge collection of dust magnet Star Wars Lego. I've spent over £1000 on it. The clamour to appear 'normal' is utterly absurd.

    Hahahaha!!!!

Love it. I personally don't care either way. That said my other hobby is to dress up as a knight in armour andrun around a field for a weekend. At least you're doing something safe.

What a waste. You could have bought RICHARDSON for Everton with that sum of money.
