This is true, but it's only polite to clean up your own minor messes... which not many people seem to be doing much anymore...

While I agree we shouldn't be slobs I also agree that it is the janitors job.

I do agree with you there. Kids are just messy in general. Honestly it annoys me when people leave a mess around. However, I don't think saying "it's not the janitor's job to clean up" teaches them anything. Perhaps teachers just need to find new ways to motivate their students to clean up their messes. A line like that doesn't do a damn thing.

I'm sure my boss wouldn't appreciate it if I left my work desk a mess, trash on the floor, dirty plates in the sink because 'it's the cleaners job'. You should be taught not to litter or be a dirty pig from a young age :p

Having worked on the custodial staff of my old high school two summers in a row, I can say that it definitely gives you a greater respect not only for the janitors' job, but also for the school property. Personally, I think kids as young as twelve should be given summer jobs at their own school, so they can learn to respect the property. Also, my mom just quit her job as church custodian after 10 1/2 years, and I know she would take issue with you for saying it's their job. [face_plain]

It no fun to throw paper planes and balls around the room if you have to pick it up.

And if we clean up our mess that means no janitors so who am I going to have sex with on my desk when I get older?

    (Think George from Seinfeld.)

The Janitor cleans up accidents and makes sure to empty garbage cans and things like that.

Their job is not picking up after a bunch of kids that leave messes knowing that someone else will pick them up.

Speaking from the experience of attending a highschool where a majority of the kids felt it wasn't their job, leaving the whole lunch room floor covered in garbage.

Sure, it's their job...but that doesn't give you the right to be a friggin' slob, either. Grow the hell up and pick up after yourself.

    Period.

What if the janitor makes messes of his own, including Chief Poops His Pants in one of SLR's old firms he worked for?

I hear it all the time. Every grade, every year. It's so annoying. Yes, it is their jobs. But maybe the teachers want us to be civilized people and not to be complete slobs. [face_mischief]

But I hear it mostly when the teacher is making us do pointless arts and crafts busy work with construction paper and glue sticks and all that and it gets everywhere. That isnt out fault.

I think the janitors only vacuumed once a week and took out the trash every day. Besides that, they only took care of stuff outside.

So, it was actually up to us to pick up our mess. Otherwise, we'd have to live with a messy room for *gasp* another 5 days. So yeah, the janitor should do it, but the school is too cheap to pay for more janitors to clean up the classrooms.

That, and they're afraid some mexican is going to steal stuff. Damn racists.

lol, my dorm room hasn't been vacuumed in over 3 months.

And this is why you guys are little kids. LEARN some respect, just because someone is paid to clean up after you doesn't mean that you SHOULD leave a mess. I work as a usher in a movie theaters and the MESS people leave behind is unbearable. You should clean up after yourself no matter what, it show's what kind of person you are.

yes, technically it is the janitor's job to clean up your messes, but that still doesn't mean that you can't be polite and considerate and clean up little messes yourself. it's a little rude to just leave a mess somewhere just because "someone gets paid to clean this up". it's like going to a fast food restaurant and leaving all your wrappers and trays and cups on the table, even though there's a trash can five feet away from you. It's just rude.

    Q.F.T.

I'm an usher too...it's ridiculous the mess some people leave.
