There is only one word for this, and that word is YES.

Edit: Though, DAMMIT. Now the Doogie Howser theme is stuck in my head. Again.

You know, I realized recently that NPH was present a couple nights at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this past year. There was a play/magic show he directed that played there. I hardly saw anything at the festival because I had no idea what was on. If I'd seen there was a magic show, I would have gone to it because of my love of magic. And maybe I would have run into NPH. In Scotland.

Oh well, at least I ran into you in Edinburgh, Asterix :)

This is the perfect Doogie Howser tribute (which makes the Saturday Night Live version look like the rip-off it is):

I love that tribute so much. And I see he's become a must faster typist ;) I am such a huge Doogie Howser fan. The theme song is my ringtone. My friends always make fun of me for loving a show they've never even heard of. Philistines.

Just wondering, is Doogie Howser that good? I'm starting to watch it cause I'm OBSESSED with NPH, and i've already heard Assassins, seen Dr.Horrible and HIMYM. So I figured you can't really count as obsessed until you've seen Doogie Howser. So, is it good?

Hells yeah Doogie Howser is the ****.

But, seriously, it's quite an entertaining show. If you like NPH enough to followh him through HIMYM, Dr. Horrible, Assassins, and are obsessed with him--you're gonna love it. Remeber the Doogie reference in HIMYM for example? Seeing Doogie Howser in relation to that HIMYM episode will blow your mind.

Also check out Starship Troopers and if you're DARING, observe the film, "Animal Room."

His Old Spice commercial that ran for awhile was one of the few that didn't annoy me to death.

Yea, I tried it out. It's acually really good! But aren't Starship Troopers and Animal Room supposed to be terrible? My brother said that he saw Starship Troopers and every aspect was horrible(lol)

    That. Absolutely that.

Doogie Howser is actually a very good show. The concept may be completely crazy, but somehow it works. You really buy Harris in the role, which probably wouldn't have happened with any other 16 year old actors. Looking back at that show, it shouldn't have been surprising to see now that he's an extremely talented guy. And the show had a really great set of producers and writers working on it. It's not just a fun show because of nostalgia. It's a legitimately good bit of television. Much more honest and mature than anything aimed at the dual parents/teenagers group is now.

Assassins is amazing. Sondheim is such a genius, and the cast all around is fantastic. I'm especially fond of O'Hare, the guy who plays Giteau. But yeah, Neil was perfectly cast for that All-American Balladeer role. Kind of goes without saying at this point that his voice is amazing, but I'll do it anyway ;)

I wish I'd been able to see that play on Broadway. I am lucky, though; I'm going to a performance of The Importance of Being Earnest in LA in June and it stars none other than Neil Patrick Harris. That's one of my all-time favourite plays, so I'm stoked.

EDIT: Starship Troopers, you have to get the satire to enjoy it. I like it. Animal Room, that movie was very strange and really disturbing. NPH was good in it as usual but I wouldn't really recommend it. I *would* however, recommend watching his episode of Law and Order CI. It's in season 4 and it's titled "Want". If you have Netflix it's on Watch Now.

Pretty much what SJ said, except I should clarify: I wouldn't recommend Animal Room either, except if you're quite "daring" as I stated earlier. It's really not a very good film, but if you are obsessed with NPH it might be worth it just to check it out. However, be warned, it's not for kids--it's quite graphic. Same goes for the Law & Order episode SJ recommended--great episode, but uber creepy/mature.

Although, I honestly haven't seen anything with NPH that is creepier than that clown costume he wore (picture I posted above).

yea, I started it and it's REALLY good. I thought he was around 10 yrs. old in the show, but was surprised that he was my age! It seems really good. The whole concept, cast, plot, everything. I hope it's not a "Jump the Shark" ending though.

Yea, Guteaou(sorry about spelling!) is really good. I LOVE the Ballad of Booth, because the two actors are mostly flawless(to me, anyway!) Yea, his voice is VERY nasal but really amazing! I've never seen any other Sondheim except Sweeny Todd, and I want to see "Sunday in the Park with George" and "Into the woods"

    OMG, LUCKY!!!!!!!!!! ;)

What's it a satire of? I've seen "Spaceballs" and "Galaxy Quest" as my Star Wars and Star Trek jokes. Is it like that, or different?

Starship Troopers isn't a comedy satire in that sense; there's just an underlying humor that goes with it's awesomeness. :)

    (If I read that right...)

Yeah, it's not a comedy, but it is a satire. If that makes any sense.

Re: Animal Room... I'm not sure what the movie was about. It kind of doesn't really have a plot. It's just sort of escalating instances in the lives of these kids who are problem students in this school who are normally locked in a room in the basement. There's a lot of nothing happening, and then seeing how horrible the bullies are to NPH's character and other people. I guess you could say it's about really depraved bullying but it still doesn't really have a storyline... it's not actually a horrible movie, I just think it's one you'd have to really analyse to get. And I'm not sure I'd want to see it more times to analyse. It's really violent and disturbing. It's sort of like some weird homage to A Clockwork Orange.
