ITT We Decide What I'll do with $244 of Best Buy Store Credit

For Christmas I got the Complete James Bond DVD set. It was very cool, but since my brother and dad each got a copy, I decided I would rather have something else. When my parents returned it to Best Buy for me (it was back at home and I'm at school), it turns out it cost a lot more there than Amazon, where my uncle had bought it.

So I now have $244 worth of store credit at Best Buy, which is slightly ridiculous. What am I to do with all this?

I think you could get almost all of the currently available Simpsons season DVDs.

 

I'd get the Alias complete series boxset. But that's just because I'm in the middle of season 2 and am renting them 2 discs at a time.

 

Battlestar Galactica DVDs, obviously.

I don't know what to do with the other $100+, though.

And BSG merchandise.

 

Dont buy DVDs, wait for them to come out on Blu-Ray. And get a Blu-Ray player probably...

 

The only BSG I need now is Season 3 and Razor...

I had contemplated the idea of chipping in some of my money and getting a 360 or PS3... but I dunno...

Up until January 31st they do, for Christmas gifts as long as they're not opened so they can just resell them.

A 360 and Mass Effect would be a good choice.

 

I wish that rule existed in NY.


Oh, and I would get a bunch of PS3 games.

 

if you really need to ask, then you probably don't deserve the $244 in store credit at best buy.


although i'll have to admit that i find it rather clever how you purloined the extra credit out of the store for an amazon purchase. very sneaky.

 

If I had this I would buy a DVD series on DVD. I am starting to collect The Wire so I'd probably go with that.

 

The Complete Seinfeld and/or West Wing.

 

Why did your parents return it at a place where it hadn't been bought? That's more than slightly weird.

 

To be fair, I didn't know how much it cost at Best Buy. I figured it would be around the same.

If I had $244 in Best Buy store credit, I'd buy DVDs of all the 80's sex comedies I've been meaning to buy.

But that's just me.

 

I certainly think the first season of The West Wing would be a good idea.

Then again, do you want to go for things on DVD that you have never seen before (always a gamble)?

 

Four seasons of The Wire (of course, you'll pay far too much, but if any series is worth it, this is it).

 

There are far better programs from HBO to buy, in my opinion, solojones.

 

I disagree. I just watched two t.v. shows, on DVD, in a row, that felt like lightning striking twice, in terms of quality and just plain great drama (and it may be a third time while I watch this first season of BSG). I can hardly decide between Sopranos and Wire, and I've heard the subsequent seasons don't slouch, either. I equate Wire on a level with Sopranos. I find it hard to believe that Six Feet Under or any other programs on HBO could be as good.

Rach, may I suggest Deadwood (the third show of the triumvirate I equate as being the three best shows I've ever seen)?

 

BSG is a Sci-Fi Channel program.

 

I'm not trying to sell The Wire, because Rachel's already said she's going to see it. I'd just say that getting them all at once might be worthwhile.

Then again, if you have all of them from the get-go, it can be tempting to jump from one season to the next. I found allowing a month or more between seasons was good.
