I mean, think about it. He played a child molester in Little Children. He co-starred in that movie with Patrick Wilson, who also played a child molester in Hard Candy. Then the two of them starred together again in Watchmen, where Haley has a life changing experience when he kills a child molester. Now he's playing Freddy Krueger, who, prior to being burnt to a crisp, was, you guessed it, a child molester.

 Will he be in a Michael Jackson biopic next?

Have you made a name for yourself as a great new face in films by establishing yourself as a smart, Hitchcockian auteur? Want to know how to **** that up? Direct TWILIGHT!

Sorry to disagree with you slimybug but you're thinking like a film student. If he directs a Twilight sequel and doesn't mess up a successful franchise, his stock in the movie industry will go UP, not down. All the sequel has to do is make as much or more money than the first one and he's home free. He'll get more opportunities and more freedom for having directed a big hit movie. His agent will also have more bargaining power on his next job not only in terms of how big his paycheck will be, but in terms of how much creative and production control he'll have over his next movie.

Success breeds money and power, and failure means you go to the back of the line, working for less money, with less say in what you're making. It's very unlikely his career will suffer from being involved with a successful franchise.

let's also not forget that David Slade may well have nowhere to go but up after the unfortunate reaction to 30 Days of Night

    Rick McCallum loves you!

I rather enjoyed the direction of 30 Days of Night. The movie itself was bad though.
