    ign says that code for Jade Empire has been seen

    - While most of us were gorging ourselves on holiday meals and napping away our vacations, news of Jade Empire 2 leaked to the net via The Mercury News. Dean Takahashi published an article stating that he spoke with someone who saw code for Jade Empire 2. "It's coming for the Xbox 360, and it's real," claims Mr. Takahashi. Rumors of the title have been floating around for years, but it is interesting to hear that the code exists for Xbox 360.

    Whether the Jade Empire franchise will stay a PC/Xbox 360 exclusive or not remains to be seen. According to Microsoft the franchise is owned by BioWare, a company that was recently purchased by EA. It's no secret that EA prefers to publish its games for as many platforms as possible, putting any thoughts of exclusivity in limbo.

    Microsoft, as usual, did not comment on the rumor. When we contacted EA, we were forwarded on to BioWare as the PR is still being handled separately. Representatives for BioWare could not be reached at this time, giving us a trio of no confirmation.

    Thankfully, IGN's own David Clayman was willing to go on record with this statement, "There is no truth to the rumor that I have already awarded this game a perfect ten in the IGN databases. As far as we know the title may not even exist. However, if the game does come to fruition I will not dismiss the possibility that it will deserve a score of ten or higher."

    We'll have more on Jade Empire 2 as it comes in.

    If the mechanics of Jade Empire 2 are anything like the first, it's not like KOTOR at all...

    KOTOR wasn't that much different from Jade Empire. One was sci-fi, one was historical...and one was more martial arts, and one was more turn-based. That's it.

    Anyway. I hope this rumor is true because I absolutely loved Jade Empire.

    Maybe this time they hire someone who actually know how to code a decent combat engine. Jade Empire was alright but the combat was mind numbing. While KOTOR was a real time RPG and played like the Baldurs Gate games, Jade Empire was a different beast altogether.

    I could never finish Jade Empire. I always end up playing until that beach battle (pretty much right in the beginning) and then I lose interest or something.

    I always regret not finishing that game cuz I hear such good things about it. I still have it too.

    I concur. And I also found more than a few similarities between JE and Kotor.

    IMO, JE also had an impact on the movie 300. [image=http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n107/SithStarSlayer/Hand.jpg][image=http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n107/SithStarSlayer/Immortal-that-dies-300.jpg]

    Carth = Sky?
    Sagacious Wu = Canderous?
    Dawn Star = Bastila?
    Death's Hand = Vader?
    Emperor = Malak?

    Ummm.... no. That's how The Immortals looked in the comic and that was way back in 98. Not to mention that the mask design was fairly generic back then. Biowares imagery was taken from eastern mythology/culture. To suggest that 300 lifted from Jade Empire is fairly ignorant.

    Saying it had an impact doesn't mean it was taken. Impacts are subconscious; they stay in the back of your mind and have an affect on what you do. Being lifted means that they purposefully took the idea and made it their own. I don't believe that SithStarSlayer was intending to say the latter, but instead, I believe he meant the former.

    Ignorance is bliss...
    Perhaps it was Jade Empire who borrowed from Miller's work? Doesn't matter, really. At least not to me. Either way, its easy to see that they CLEARLY resemble each other.

    Thanks for not making too much out of what I wrote Lord Vivec. I could care less who came first, but obviously some panties get bunched up pretty quickly around here...

    Well when your trying to suggest that on some level one effected the other, lifted fits. That being said neither influenced the other. They just drew from the same source material.

    Excellent! I always was interested in looking up how that three-way relationship ended up! :p
