Rogue One Jan Dodonna In Rogue One

I think this is brilliant news! It makes sense for Admiral Dodanna to be here, he's a key figure for the Rebel Alliance and maybe he will gain further character development in the process too.

 

There's nothing to say that is Dodonna other than a vague facial likeness...or has there been an official announcement?

 

He's wearing exactly the same clothes, and the hair and beard look pretty accurate. May not be him, for sure, but with Bail and Mon Mothma, I think Dodonna is a good possibility.

 

This is a case where the original actor wasn't famous and recognizable, and the character is really not very important. Someone who looks a bit like the original guy is good enough.

 

It's a safe bet.

I wonder if they will include a scene of him with Bail, where Bail first mentions Leia and then Dodonna says "Her name is Leia? I thought her name was Leeya. Well, I guess I'll never get it right."

 

There's a better shot of what looks to be Dodonna in the first RO trailer.

 

We also saw a Mon Cal in the reel, it's definitely not Ackbar unless Mon Cal's change colour? What if you have the briefing with head of the Rebellion and we see Mothma, Bail, Dodonna, Madine and this aging Mon Cal who might just be Ackbar's mentor?

 

Given the time line, makes perfect sense. Looking forward to getting to know some of these folks a little better.

 

Makes me wonder how many other PT/OT Characters (Besides Dodonna, Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, Darth Vader and possibly Tarkin) will appear in Rogue One.

True indeed. However, quite a few articles have speculated Jan Dodonna being in Rogue One and this one confirmed it: his presence is a likely one.

I really think it would be good to see him again. The actor seems like a good match, Jan has some distinguishing figures (beard and hair) so it's easy to replicate his appearance.

 

Apparently they're hoping to keep a cameo a big secret until the film opens....could that actually be Dodonna?

if you look at the briefing scene for the attack on SK base in TFA theres a guy that could be a really ancient jan dadaonna.

There's actually several guys in the briefing room image that have the Dodonna type of look.

 

I think it's obvious that one of the bearded rebel officers is supposed to be General Dodonna. I like it how they made many rebels look so accurate to their ANH-look while many of them just scream they were random extras straight from 1970s

 

I'm pretty convinced that is Dodonna. I mean, why would they go to such lengths (same hair, beard, stature and basic outfit) to make that character look like that if they were not planning to have him be Dodonna? And I refuse to think it's just a coincidental similarity on their part. I mean, look at how meticulously they did Mon Mothma. Look at how precisely matched the control room looks to the one in ANH (the one Mothma is standing in vs. during the ANH Death Star attack). You can tell they paid close attention to detail with matching up the looks and feels of characters, equipment and locations there in the Yavin base.

That's totes Dodonna. And I'm glad for that-I'd have liked to see more of him.

 

wonder if one of them is also General Willard. and it would also be cool if one of those Generals was Airen Cracken, The leader of Allied Alliance Intelligence.

 

Yes, it would be somewhat odd if the commander of the Rebel Forces wouldn't be present during the briefing.
