i've noted that many jedi have the long hair w/ braid in back hairstyle. i was wondering if anyone knows how to style hair in the fashion of anakin or obi-wan in ep. II. i've tried gel and mousse but i can't slick my hair back. and i don't use hair spray (o-zone!)

    Up.

I remember seeing a thread about 6 mo. to a year ago WRT the size combs used for padawan-style haircuts, etc.

Did it roll off the boards? Anyone remember it?

Rubies costumes makes padawan braids that you clip on, which is probably the only good thing rubies ever made IMO. They cost anywhere around $5-$10, but they only come in dirty blonde, because they're an obi-wan ep1 accessory, but you could always dye it if you need to. Otherwise, about the slicking back, have you tried pomade, or glue gel, because usually those work the best. I have both, but I never considered the fact of Jedi's having slicked back hair, because I didn't know that they did.

You can also get boat-loads of synthetic hair for 1.99 per bag. Call any Beuty Shop and ask about KaneKalon hair.

A lot of it depends on your hair type (ie. straight, wavy, thin, thick, etc.) Obi Wan's Episode II "do" is fairly simple: somewhat longish in cut, perhaps with a bit of layering. I think that Ewan is probably blessed with somewhat thick and easily managed hair (or just a really good stylist on the set).

Personally, my hair is very long (past mid-back) in the back and shorter in the front (essentially trimmed from ear to ear at brow length). I usually wear it in a ponytail on a daily basis, and from the front it appears that I have "normal" short hair. Most pics of me (including the one at the top of the FAQ section banner). Most people do a double take if I wear it down, as it's then obvious just how long it truly is. When in Jedi garb, I like to wear a "half pony tail" (similar to how Qui Gon wears his: half in a pony tail and the rest hanging free).

All in all, we've seen many different hairstyles with the Jedi...long, short, praided, etc. (and so as not to forget Mace: bald). I leave it up to the individual and their prefernces...

"Rubies costumes makes padawan braids that you clip on"

I was wondering, Where do you get these clip on braids I have farily long hair and it would blend right in, not to mention I have dirty blonde hair so it would be perfect. anyway if you have like a web-site or something that would be awesome. Thanks,

    Forcebewitya!

Honestly those braides are awful...maybe cause I have brown hair...

i found if you get fake hair that matches yours more closly its best.

OR if you have long hair, braid it yourself and add teh embriodery floss :)

Well, for the Rubies ones, PEG seems like a better discription of the clip they used. It's about 2cm long and has little countor (seems like a \-/ from the side.

For the Braids I bought here, it comes with this "Snap-On" like clip (very cheap kind) available at any hair accesories stores. It's the kind usually used by gals to clip their long fringe to the side of the hair/head.

Another type I saw uses a Nice "Silver" Bobby Pin/Clip; real function same as the above.

Will scan in the items later.

i had a couple of padawan braids made, one for my padawan and one for a friend out of state [jahzmyhn you know who you are] i used braiding hair from the beauty supply store. you could use real hair too, they have that find some that is close to the color of your hair. then have someone braid it. lenght varies. i asked my wifes hair dresser to make them for me. i used colored beads from the leather supplies store [these are for indian headresses] i bought a bag of each color. cost about $6. there is link that tells what colors should be used. i used 3 in various colors. if someone wants the site for the meanings of the colors PM me.

For my Padawan braid, I checked with my hair lady. She cut me a 1/2 inch from a thing of human hair she uses for hair extentions. We then died it a dark brown because that's what my hair color is. I had my mom braid it for me, because I have no idea how to braid, lol, I don't have enough hair on my head TO braid.

    Hope that helps.

:) Yep, and Zhi, you and your wife rock, thanks :D.

It looks SO real people ask me "Is that your real hair??? WHOA!".. I braid a piece of my hair then some way attach the braid tot he end of mine, but the little stretchy plastic band. Then cover those with the embrodiry floss.
Maybe I should have someone snap a pic of the braid?
I do want to find one of human hair though or get an extension. The Challenge is finding a beauty shop that KNOWS how to put one in.

well the problem for me is that my dad is a barber. He already disaproves of my long shaggy style hair, so I don't know how he would react if I told him that I want him to make me a padawan braid. It would be worth it to just go buy one.I mean I don't even know if I would use it. It just would be nice to have on hand. thanks for the help though.

If you watch the "making of" extras on the EPI DVD you will see Ewan getting his hair cut. One thing that GL says is that it should NOT look like he had been to a barber. Just an interesting note.

Try spritz, it's spray in a squirt bottle instead of an aerosal can. I used to use it all the time, before the buzz cut :D

Hmm... That's cool. I'd like to get a black padawan braid for my friend that will be my padawan in a fan film that I'm planning. Maybe I can go to a beauty supply store, but I'd look very weird in a beauty supply store, as I am a guy. I'm a 14 year old boy to make it worse.
