    Hi!

Since I had some problems, where to put my belongings, at the Jedi Con, I'm planning to make some kind of Jedi like bag for next time by myself.

I thought of a shoulder-bag or something like that. You know these shoulder-bags, where the straps go over to the sides of the bag itself in some kind of a triangle shape (haven't found a photo...)? I thought, that would look great. I'm not sure about which fabric to use... Perhaps someone can help me with that...

Does anyone know, how Jedi survival packs look like? Pics somewhere?

Shouldn't be a backpack, because I want to wear my robe over it...

In general: Does anyone know a site, which tells how to make a bag? Or has someone tips for me?

    Thanks for your help! :)

    To give you some hints...

This, but not as big and more slim...

or that, but not as much separated and the strips should go over to the bag without a break... and this is a sling back-pack, I want a bag at the side... It should fit at my chest, stomach and back...

Just like a hip bag for over your shoulders...

I think, I have seen such a bag... But I don't find one on the net...

We were also talking about this on The Jedi Assembly. My personal take on it is that it should blend in with the costume, so for most Jedi, it would be beige or brown. I just added a shoulder strap to a simple canvas bag.

The consensus on TJA was canvas or leather.

I carried it around Comic-Con and it worked fine.

I thought of a bg looking more futuristic... in contrast to the robe... in some kind futuristic, considering the shape... but the color should be some brown... thought about that fabric they used for the hoth officer vests...

This might be hard to construct but what about a bag that looked like a few jumbo jedi pouches together?

Myself, I don't like the idea, because we've never seen a Jedi carry any sort of a bag or pack. The way they carry everything, as we all know, is in pouches on their "utility" belts. As we all know, Jedi have been shown on film wearing pouches in various sizes. Myself, I prefer to use real, functional leather pouches to carry my camera, cell phone, etc. Keeping in mind that the real Jedi costumes use off-the-rack khakis as pants, I also carry some things (wallet, keys) in the pockets of my pants, because the tunic covers the pockets, anyway.

Rather than a shoulder bag, I would recommend just ordering at least one large leather belt pouch from a renaissance costume company, such as Chivalry Sports or Ravensmoon Replicas (I've done business with both companies, and have been quite satisfied). Ravensmoon will gladly custom make pouches for you in any size you want, and you'll have them FAST! :)

I agree, Jack, for the most part. For the usual event or small Con, everything goes in my nearly-film-accurate pouches or my pockets.

However, for a really huge Con, like Dragon*Con or ComiCon, where one may be away from the hotel for 12 hours, AND picking up all kinds of large stuff, a larger bag is needed.

I have a few sets of operational pouches for my Anakin belt that suit me just fine. When I did the AOTC Anakin I used three and now with the ROTS Anakin, two. Camera in the big one, cell phone in the small one and my wallet in my pants pocket. Works great for me everytime. I also have a long slim pocket sewn along an inside seam in my robe that's made to fit an EL blade, it works great.

For my Jedi costume that I've worn at Dragon Con I just used the functional pouches and my pockets. Various sizes hold various things...but most importantly my inhaler is real easy to get my hands on when it's in the front pouch. I stay in the con hotel, so when I acquire too much junk to carry I go back to my room and dump things.

I have problems with other costumes that don't have pockets or pouches - such as my Handmaiden outfit. For that I made a drawstring bag from leftover fabric. It blends in reasonably well and I have all the important things close to hand. One could do the same thing out of leftover fabrics from the Jedi costume, then hang the bag off the belt in an inconspicuous spot.

For my Anakin Ep. II costume, I wear a wallet around my neck made by Ducti. It goes on with a thin chain with a commtech chip of Padme attached. For my cel phone, I found a brown leather pouch that holds a photo (naturally, I put Padme!) It blends with the costume, but it makes people do a double take and laugh! Sometimes if I have to, I'll use the Ep. I brown Anakin backpack. I just tell people "it reminds me of Mom".

I've pouches on my belt that holds my things. What I want to do is make a leather bag that can hold my tunics and leggings,(Somewhat like luggage) that can be carried around. It can get to be a problem carring them clothing on hangers to conventions. It takes up too muchspace. and I don't have a duffle bag.

Now what type of leather cna be used for this? The oiled types I see bags made of in Wilson's Leather shop? Anyone know if The Leather factory has leather like that?
