    Hello,

As you may already know, I am the Director and Visual Effects Supervisor of the FanFilm "The Premonition", and I would like to hear some comments about the latest scene I've been working on.

Jedi Temple Hangar Sequence - Quicktime video, 8 seconds.

The sequence is composed of several layers which have been composited together:

    - Jedi Temple Hangar (model by Jakub "Q'ba" Piasecki)
    - Coruscant Surface (model by me)
    - Traffic and fighters (models from Scifi3D, animation by me)
    - Corellian Shuttle (model by Marc Anthony, optimized by me, still untextured) :(

We would really like to hear some comments from you all. Any criticism or suggestions?

    Kind Regards,

    Juan

Please say how large (mb) the movie is because my internet connection is not the fastest (and I am already waiting over 15 minutes and I have no idea if it is still loading...)

That´s for all other guys, who send other files than pics, too... Thanks :D

The file is 6 mb. That would be about 5 minutes with DSL but if you have a slower connection, I'm afraid it can take a bit longer.

Please, think about the poor saps with dial-up (like me) when you make these files. Either find a reasonable balance between quality and filesize, or make two versions: a higher quality for people with better connections, and a lower quality for people with dial-up. 6 MB for 8 seconds of video is far too big.

OK, I replaced the file with another, more compressed one, and the quality is still quite good. The file is now 940 Kb.

I wouldn't know what to say. It's a good test as far as motion goes, sound efx, etc. But you can't really see much else. Why don't you include a couple of high-rez renders and one reference.

I forgot to say it's an original model of our design... not based on the Episode-II Deleted Scenes hangar. It's more a test on the whole "putting all the elements together" task.

    Three close-up images included.

Oh. I can see the Council columns. Good to include some of the same features so you know where this hangar belongs, altho you say it's original. I like the design on the walls. The textures are pretty simple... but in the shot and at that camera distance it looks ok. Altho that part could be alot better. How about one nice render like the first one but with all the elements composited together. Nice modelling, kool details... kool shot all around. What compositing method are you using??

Yes, that may give us some trouble with some of the close-ups we'll be needing.

Unfortunately this takes a LONG time to render, even in my 2,4 GhZ computer... so we're doing only the necessary renders.

For compositing, I've found the best way is render the elements separately and composite them all using Adobe After Effects. This way you can have quite a lot of control on each layer and modify anything faster than what it would take on MAX.

The server which hosts my web is getting worse and worse... they have a no-ads policy and now this. Well, to access to the pages, try copying and pasting the links:

    http://www.thepremonition.tk or http://premonition.isgreat.tv/ - The Website
http://premonition.isgreat.tv/hangar.htm - The page with this video

And if this still doesn't work, try putting an " ? " after the web adress.

That works for me, let's hope it also does for you.
