As I said in the other thread- yay, Qui-gon! And the art doesn't looks pretty good too. I knew Qui-gon's other Padawan was Xanatos, but was never sure how much was actually covered in the young reader series. But still, more Qui-gon is pretty much always a good thing (funny how many Qui-gon stories we're getting this year). Hope to see lots of characters from that era (Yoda, Dooku, Mace and probably whoever else is on the Jedi Council at that point, etc.) too.

Well it looks like this series takes place nearly a decade before the Jedi Apprentice series, when Xanatos wasn't Qui-gon's apprentice anymore.

This sounds like a really cool concept, though, especially if we see Dooku as a Jedi master, plus other masters of the time. I think it could easily become a full series.

EDIT: I love how in the interview Allie says how Sith popping up in every story makes the movies less meaningful.:p

I'm pleased. I thought it was going to be Jabba. A younger Dooku was on my wish list so I guess this will do. I liked Betrayal but I don't remember Allie's Republic issues.

The art doesn't blow me away but I like the premise. Lone Jedi in on the outskirts of the galaxy. I'm sensing a motif.[face_batting]

"We wanted to tell a story with a lone hero out on the edge of space, not dealing with these big galactic concerns, but having adventures on a much more personal level."

I like that I hear "personal" in there. No Sith. Could be good. Course Dass was doing that very thing in DT's last arc. I'm definitely sensing a motif.;)

    ...so no Lando? [face_frustrated]

Kidding. Sounds awesome. Let the speculation on who the next "Jedi" series will focus on begin!

I'm a little disappointed the mystery character didn't turn out to be more substantial like Ice Cream Maker Guy or Kitster, but I suppose Qui-Gon will just have to do. ;)

I like Qui-gon, but I'm not excited about this. I probably won't invest in this comic. I think there has been too much prequel/clone wars stuff already, and it's not my favorite era.

I do believe this is the first time an announcement exceeded the wild musings of the most imaginative conspiracy theorists.

    A Xanatos comic?!?

Love Qui-Gon, love the choice of story, even if it is one we already know but haven't seen. It'll be great to get it fleshed out. Not that excited about Allie; his previous work has been middle-of-the-road. But I don't think he'll do badly here. Asrar's art appears good, too.

Wow, and I thought Invasion tying into NJO was impressive. Old and obscure books for a comic tie in now...I like. Good to go out and take risks.

Though part of me wishes it was Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan during the Mandalorian Civil War instead. Say what you will, but TCW has hinted at some interesting stories to be told.

Hmmm... I see where you're coming from about Allie. I sort of agree. I rather enjoyed Empire: Betrayal (definitely one of my favorite arcs of the whole series), but his other stuff was somewhat so-so. His stories begin with great ideas but sometimes peter out toward the end. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to this one -- it's a story that's worth telling (unlike the gazillion TCW comics that repeat the same plot...)

Could it truly be? A...a pre-TPM late Old Republic-era comic, in this day and age? Wonderful news.

    Definitely looking forward to this.

    Agreed!

    Hooray for Qui-Gon... but Xanatos?
Didn;t see this one coming from a mile away!

    Agreed again!

I didn't think this era was even being considered for any publications any more!

[face_plain] I'm... not really excited about this. Maybe it's because I hated those books with a passion. Like Glove of Darth Vader hate.

But, I like what Allie has done in Buffy with Whedon (Season 8 spoilers: RIP Giles :_|), and more Qui-Gon is always good, so I may give it a shot. If they keep this around as an ongoing series, I hope they switch up the main Jedi for each story. Set one in the NJO, Legacy, or KOTOR era. That would be cool.

A nice surprise! More Qui-Gon is always welcome, and I've always been curious abotu Xanatos even though I haven't read any of the JA/JQ books (beyond Legacy of the Jedi and the JQ comic).

This has got me a lot more excited then I originally was. A Qui-Gon/Xanatos series? Pure win! I really can't wait for this. The only thing I've notice it the whole lone Jedi in Star Wars comics- Kerra Holt, Qui-Gon/Xanatos, Dass Jennir... wouldn't be surprised if at the end of Legacy- War Cade went off to be a lone Jedi.

Well, I was not expecting this kind of series when I heard the news of a new one. I liked the Xanatos arc in the Jedi Apprentice books and so I'm looking forward to this.

You can never have enough Qui-gon: 2011 is just getting better and better. Qui-gon in The Clone Wars, with his real voice; Qui-gon getting his own comic decades before the films; and with any luck Qui-gon inserted into the blu ray. I'm excited for this comic, it's a really refreshing choice, appealing to casual fans while hitting the "ooh-aah" button for us canon junkies. A Xanatos comic indeed. Who'da thunkit?

Hey, hey, hey, hey. I remember when Jedi Apprentice first came out...it was a big part of getting me into the EU. It had about a gazillion installments. It's not all that obscure, and in no way is it old. The prequels just came out, for heaven's sake. 1999 was not a long time ago. It's just not. It can't be. :p

    Ditto.
