Jedi's and sex

I was just wondering since the Jedi are not allowed to marry, are they allowed to give in to there "urges" (obviously since the majority of Jedi are Humans) and have sex? I think they are because (no joke) sex is an essencial is a persons life as is air or water (according to psychological studies). But then again, this could potencially be distracting. So what do Jedi do?

Look at the end of Darth Maul's saber and the grip of Mace Windu's TPM saber... even one of the female Jedi had a similar grip, if that doesn't look like an ... uh, aid, you must be blind.
Even Mace Windu's AOTC saber has a ergonomic shape.

I'm sure the saber designers have to make jokes about this... they HAVE TO!

 

I think the problem with jedi's having sex would be getting attached to that one night Twi'lek hooker.

 

GL said somewhere publicly that Jedi arent celabite . Some may be, but yes , they are allowed to have sex. David Brinn said GL said this at some public event, but I cant remember what it was called. Read his SW essays at WWW.DAVIDBRIN.COM to find out. It is only attachments and falling in love that is forbidden. Brin used this as another device to criticise SW.

The jedi can have sex, I just don't think they are encouraged to because it could lead to attachments!

I don't see why a topic would debate such a thing. Sex isn't essential, like air, water or food. There are many cultures or religions,etc which do not partake in relations. They live as well as others. If a monk can go a lifetime with no sex, why not a Jedi? In definition, sex is supposed to be an act of love. Love, attachment, etc are deemed unneccessary by the Jedi Order and they are forbidden.

Ki Adi Mundi has 5 wives because there was an exception made due to the low population of his species. Also, the shape of the end of a lightsaber (Maul's handle end is rather sharp, those connotations mentioned before are sick) does not reflect anything about what some juvenile mind may think. Precisely the reason I am questioning why this topic will remain unlocked.

 

No one can live without sex. I am sorry. Someone said earlier that is an essenctial part of the human race. If there wasn't sex, there wouldn't be humans. And who can live without it anyways.

 

Do you fail to see the point? Sex is not essential to surviving as an individual! Sex is essential for the survival of a species. There are priests and monks and nuns, etc who take a vow of celibacy. And these people live long and healthy lives (mostly). Do not say sex is something you need to live. Do not make what you think are psychological claims when you do not fully understand what you are talking about. I'm not talking about the typical horomnal "I can't live without sex" claim, I'm talking about actually living.

That was just a therory (that has penty of evidence) made by a psychologist (I cant remember his name (it might have been Abarham Maslow)) and not only that, if preists swear to celibacy, then whats up with the catholic sex abuse crisis (presits molesting little children)?

 

Maul's saber wasn't sharp! Besides I meant the cone shape at the end of it, that shape appeared on Mace Windu's saber in the TPM Visual Dictionary and a female Jedi has a similar end for her saber... Yes, I meant the cone shape!

I'm beginning to think someone is feeling touchy about the sex/no sex thing. Don't worry, I don't actually think anyone died as a 90 year old virgin!

Also, in response to the efficiency of this thread, I believe the topic question has been solved. GL is quoted saying Jedi aren't celibate but can't make attachments, while Ki-Adi Mundi had 5 wives due to emergency conditions.
