After spending the last few days listening to the Liquid Tension Experiment, I've come to the conclusion that John Petrucci is not human. He's some sort of guitar-playing machine.

For those of you who don't know who John Petrucci is, he's the guitarist for the band called Dream Theater. He graduated from the Berklee School of Music (which, I'm told, is one of the more prestigous music schools) and has worked on side projects, like the Liquid Tension Experiment.

I play guitar and my jaw drops at some of the stuff he's able to pull off.

So he is the guy who is playing in Universal mind -> really amazing

I must admit I don't know much about him, but I rememberd his name and this is a lot for me.
But I'm going to the Dream theatre concert and I guess I'll see him live doing those things with the guitar.

Have you heard about Joe Satriani? Another guitar virtuoso, he playes for Deep Purple.

And I read that Satriani, Petrucci and Steve Vai are going to play together in a live concert someware in Japan (I guess).
This would be nice to see...

I think they already had that performance. I'd have paid good money to see that if it were here in the states. I hope they release it on CD. I'd love to hear a recording of it.

Don't know. Maybe. I wasn't that interested, cuz I'm sure it was someware in Asia.
A place to far to visit...

But I'm sure they will apare again, together on the same stage.
And I hope it will be near... [face_praying]

I hope they release it on CD. I'd love to hear a recording of it.
    I'll keep my eyes open.

I found out there are several DVD recordings of their performances and are called G3 ...
I know for shure there is 'G3 live in Tokio' and 'G3 live in Denver' (in Denver Petrucci isn't playing).

I'm going to have the Denver one...

John Petrucci is indeed one of the fastest players on the planet, and one of the most technically skilled guitarists.

beyond that, however, i don't think he amounts to much. there's more to guitar-playing than just playing fast.

that said, there're a couple of cool Liquid Tension Experiment & Dream Theatre songs out there.

I agree that there's more. And he's still one of the best. Just because he puts fast licks in his solos doesn't mean that's ALL he plays. If you get the chance, listen to Instrumedly on the Live at Budokan CD. Shows the range he can go through. Or better yet, watch it on DVD.

I'll have to agree with previous poster.
John Petrucci is no Dave Mustaine.
