Let’s hope. Because the second book was the worst piece of Star Wars fiction across two or three continuities. I can’t add any positivity to it. Not only was it horrendously juvenile even by the book’s standards, it’s now the most ridiculous continuity error in the new continuity. Which I appreciate happens - but to happen for a fart joke - is awful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wonder, if they reprint the second book, will they remove the whole wedding thing now that it's not in continuity anymore?
I enjoyed the rest of the book - but I'd agree that this particular moment was on a par with the worst TPM moments.
I echo the above sentiments, they aren't great, especially as they followed the Servants series which was engaging from beginning to end. Even the Adventures in Wild Space septriliogy (that a word?!) was solid. This, less so and to have such a continuinty gaff, which probably wasn't the author's fault only makes it worse. I said in a previous thread, it could be easily retconned as a poor memory from Mattis as he was going made in his cell or something.
I have so much limited data on this series as Wookieepedia doesn't update. Spoiler I want to know what happened to Jo Jerjerrod during the second book?!!!!
Why don't they just cancel this series and not release the third book? Do they have to release it for contractual obligations to the author? The series isn't anything more than a Goonies style of story anyways and we are now getting a TV show about young new recruits coming into the resistance. If people want to see a story of that nature they can just wait a couple more months and watch it on TV. And there will probably be just as many books dedicated to the new show as there were for Rebels and I would be very surprised if any of them acknowledge anything from the JttR series.
I only read part way through the first book so don't know exactly what all happened to him in each book. But there is quite a bit written about him on his character page. It's true though that The wook doesn't give thorough summaries for the books anymore these days.
So thanks to Nathan's Timeline Gold, I actually know what's going on (now wish someone would update the pages beyond basic descriptions and without grammar errors [I find those distracting]). Clearly the mission is: Spoiler to rescue Jo from the First Order
OK, so I haven't read any of these books, (though I did lurk on the other thread about this series when the first book came out, so I know the basic plot elements) but I'm kind of curious . . .What's this fart joke? What continuity error? What wedding? What's going on ?!?
Enjoy: (I didn't ) Spoiler: Join the Resistance #2 excerpt and Poe Dameron #25 retcon (Links to above tumblr post and above tweet, since embedded tweets sometimes don't load inside of spoiler tags, at least for me.)
He who smelt it.... EDIT: Quite seriously, the infamous Geordie Edit did an entire swath of jokes around this. Who are you and what the hell have you done with Sinny? Seriously, a new book has done what all of Denning's best efforts couldn't and placed itself beyond your vaunted reconciliation abilities?
I know, I know. I felt bad even writing that post, but at the same time... I just can’t stand that they expect this to stand beside Jason’s brilliant Servants series, and the high quality younger fiction for Rogue One, let alone ‘Lost Stars’, which is also not part of the ‘adult novels’, and expect me to not be pissed with a fart wedding. Seriously. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
41 years of stories across multiple timelines and only 1 you can't find redeemable? Not bad. Not bad at all.
The thing is - I like the idea of the FO waging war on the Hutts and the New Republic ignoring it, as it was beyond their borders and nobody cares about Hutts. The FO taking Vodran, perhaps using Arkanis as a base, it’s logical. Even if the story involved a damn lengthy escape from a prison with monsters, much like the brilliantly fun Galaxy of Fear books. But the wedding is just, basically, unnecessary, and now, a basic continuity issue. I mean, I have three Han and Leia weddings in One Canon out of necessity - informal one on Endor, interrupted official one in GoDV, before the full, official one in CoPL - but no fart weddings with no official answer to its existence. And it’s not as if the Poe comics were not in the planning stages at his point - it’s an on-going. So it’s a real bother. Shrug. I want to enjoy these books. I always want to enjoy a Star Wars book. But it’s disappointing when we know how well the Disney era has handled YA books. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep, it's why I've got this running joke with Sinny that's been going.... hmm, got to be a few years now.
