Is there anyone else who thoroughly enjoyed this piece of misogynistic, anti-American literature?

Cuz I think it is one of the best books ever. So hilarious.

It's one of my favorite books too (top-ten-list favorite, easily). 'The Soldier who Saw Everything Twice' is probably my personal pick for best chapter.

Though the bit where Yossarian questions "Where are the Snowdens of yesteryear" is my favorite part in general.

    Decisions.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

This is my favourite novel, perhaps along with Hitchhiker's Guide.

If you haven't seen Arrested Development, you've made a huge mistake.

This requires at least two readings to get it. Mostly due to the nonlinearness of it.

Good book, but Something Happened is better.

Well I can at least be the first person to throw out "Hey, anyone seen the movie?" and "Hey, anyone read the sequel?"

Perhaps I should have spaced those out better.

If you haven't seen Arrested Development, you've made a huge mistake.

The Texan turned out to be good-natured, generous and likable. In three days no one could stand him.

Haven't seen the movie, tried reading the sequel, which did absolutely nothing for me.

And I am stuck saying Catcher in the Rye is still my favorite novel. Thats like saying my favorite movie is "The Godfather" or my favorite food is "Pizza."

I haven't read it but I've been vaguely meaning to for awhile. I almost bought it a few months/years ago but then didn't. Next time I'm at a bookstore I may have to get it... or maybe library... [face_thinking]

I just read the end yesterday and I think that I think that it is the best novel written.
I loved when Yossarian and Dunbar kept moaning 'Oooooooooooooooooooh' and then the rest of the unit started to do it.
I also liked when Dunbar yelled 'his back', the solder in white, and the rest of the people in the hospital ward started yelling and running every where. Then they 'disappeared' him.

This is definatly one of my favorite books ever.

"Where are the Snowdens of yesteryear" is one of those lines that makes it on some list of cool literay quotes.

Its a hard read at first, but once you get through it (and better a second time) its well worth it.

Oh yeah, I also wrote my 11-page English paper on this one :)

When I first read this book, the chaplains name was R.O. Shipman. In the version I read recently, it was A.T. Tappman.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

The book is great, one of my Top 10 list. I love the humour. I've seen the movie, too, but didn't like it - it seemed, well, flat and tasteless. The acting was quite bad...

True satire, though I wouldn't call the book anti-American at all - it's iconoclastic and disparaging of society as a whole, not of the United States in particular. (Other than a particularly irate Italian man's summation ;) ).

Milo was certainly the most entertaining part of the book, and the best part of the movie is seeing Art Garfunkel :p

I just bought this book. I finally own it.

Unfortunately it is the version that calls the chaplain "A.T. Tappmann"

    Oh well.
