Wasn't sure where this should go, so feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place.

ok - so what I'm wondering is : do we see any Journalism/ journalists in the GFFA. ?

I mean we see all sorts of cultures and industries kinda mirroring our own, but I've wracked my brains and can't think of any journalists or stories about someone investigating a story etc.

Maybe I'm forgetting something really obvious or maybe there's a whole strand of this in the EU. Feel free to enlighten me.

The only hint of news media in the movies are the camera droids covering the senate meetings.

There’s some journalists In the EU. Cindel Towani became a journalist.

The old WEG d6 RPG had some in-universe news reports. Some were official corporate reports with varying degrees of propaganda. There were also some from underground free journalists, which were pretty entertaining. IIRC, the sourcebook Fragments From The Rim had a short chapter on galactic news organizations.

It's surprising there's so little. With all the political intrigue and going on in the PT I can't help thinking there's room there for a journalistic thriller like All the Presidents Men or The Parallax View etc.

or an episode of Clone Wars with reporters following the troops like in Viet-Nam.

Would the HoloNet News from TCW not count? There's a mention of Anakin being given the moniker "The Hero with no fear" during the reporting on the Clone Wars battles.

I always imagined the Holonet as well, and there is some TCW-era stories about Palpatine taking it over.

Which is no doubt deliberate, since Padme's regnal name comes from the amygdala, the organ of the brain responsible for generating strong emotions such as fear. And in Wagner's Ring Cycle, Siegfried literally does not know what fear is until he experiences it when first gazing on his beloved Bruennhilde.

The Ring Cycle also features Siegfried's parents being a brother and sister who sleep together - something that probably inspired Game of Thrones, but almost certainly not Star Wars. After all, a one-handed blond knight sleeping with his twin sister seems rather far-fetched, doesn't it? ;)

Suralinda Javos. She’s a big character in the Poe Dameron comic series, and is actually a journalist. The Resistance even goes on missions and helps her record crimes committed by the First Order so the rest of the galaxy can see what they’re actually like, in the hopes of them joining the Resistance.

I really liked her character. Found her being a journalist really interesting, as like you said, there’s hardly any of it in Star Wars.

They were a big part in some of the later Legends novels, I think LOTF or FOTJ.

FOTJ. Den Dhur in the Medstar duology, set in the Clone Wars, is also a journalist.

There's what I think is a Siskel and Ebert easter egg in AOTC before they go into the bar after the speeder chase. There's a quick shot of one alien giving a thumbs up, and then another one doing the same.

I would love a animated short about a journalist during clone wars
