    Part 1

    Journals: Battle of Coruscant

INTRODUCTION: These are the real* accounts of clone soldiers serving the Grand Army of the Republic in the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. All descriptions and interpretations in these stories are told by real* soldiers. This is their story:

    Battle of Coruscant
    Hour-00: The Battle Begins.
    Unit #135798641

My crew and I were stationed on patrol above the capital city on the day of the attack. Of course I thought that this was going to be like any other day, but I was wrong. You see on normal patrol days, we would check large freighters and such, nothing really going on. We sure were surprised when the Separatist Fleet jumped out of hyperspace right in front of our eyes. Was I excited! I had been dreaming for a real job, fighting in the outer rim and using my abilities to their full potential. That day had finally come.

The plan was this: defend Coruscant at ALL costs. My captain ordered our whole patrol fleet to make a net around Coruscant. Once the order was fulfilled he began setting up the fighter patrols and turret stations. I was one of the soldiers ordered for the turrets.

Them Seppies, came hard and fast. Tri-fighters and vulture droids raced all around us. As beautiful as it was, the frustration set in. I couldn?t make our own fighters from theirs! But I did my best and managed to destroy a few. Next came the invasion force. In the midst of the heat, dozens of Trade Federation Landers broke through our defenses.

Reports from the surface indicated that they were hitting the Senate area hard. Though the Jedi were handling it well done there, I had my doubts. Being able to move things without touching them is nice and all, but it?s nothing next to a good blaster at your side. I just hoped that we would be able to make it out of this alive.

    Battle of Coruscant
    Hour-01: Captive Chancellor
    Unit #034547572

As one of the Coruscant guards, I have a duty to keep the capital safe. Usually it?s jailing smugglers or busting drug dealers. It?s my responsibility no matter what. When the Separatists attacked, I was ordered to get in a gunship and head towards the Senate District. Just a few kilometers away, the Senate District was filled with countless battle droids, walking vulture droids, and the Separatist?s newest treachery: the octuptarra droids. These spider things were sure as hell ugly, but they were nothing a good old grenade couldn?t fix.

We landed the gunship and headed towards the Senate District?s main entrance: a bridge. I as well as my comrades joined the other troopers defending the bridge from the Separatist battledroids. We were outnumbered by far. Two Trade Federation Landers were parked just across from the bridge, unloading hundreds of the droids. It was hopeless.

My commander told us to pull back, but a Jedi by the name of Yoda came to the rescue on this thing he called a kybuck steed. To tell you the truth it looked like a horse with horns to me. Yoda and another Jedi, General Windu, saved the Senate District from certain destruction as well as saving my life. I guess the Jedi aren?t so bad after all. I owe them one.

The victory didn?t last long. Reports from the Holonet rumored that General Grievous had captured the Chancellor. My heart sank that hour. The heart of the Republic, what we had been made to serve was gone. On Kamino, they had trained us not to have emotions. But I knew better. Emotions were a natural part of life. I just hope that its not too late for the Jedi to come to the rescue again.
