Have any of you ever beaten Jurassic Park for the SNES?

Failing at that game haunts me still to this day :(

    No.

But that game does look awesome for the NES.

Never played the SNES version, but the GB version is similar based on the screen shots. Never could beat it though; got to the final building but couldn't get to the escape before the damn raptors got me everytime.

I used to have this on Genesis. I could get past the second stage!

The SNES game was awesome, but very hard. Going into the Raptor pen areas always creeped me out (amplified by the inherent awesome creepiness of lower-rez FPS games). And di anyone ever figure out how to not get killed by the T-Rex? Awesome music too, very weird to see a movie spinoff not take advantage of a JW theme asset, and even rarer for it to end up being a good thing.

    The Genesis ones were awesome.

    You played as a Raptor!

I have this one. Never beat it, though. I think there's also a NES version of the game.

The Genesis games were pretty fun, especially the raptor parts.

I remember Jurassic Park II: The Chaos Continues for SNES, too. It was a sidescrolling platform shooter, not unlike Contra. I never beat that one either, at least not without an unlimited continues cheat.

The Genesis version of the first game is probably better known- if only for the play-as-Raptor element (which was pretty damn cool), but I liked that the Gen/SNES versions were entirely different games- the Genesis one being a sidescroller, while the SNES was a hybrid of the top-down adventure and FPS genres.

I have the game gear version. It's not particulary hard, I've beaten it many times now. It's similar to the sega version in that's a side scroller, but you only get to play as grant, not as a raptor.

I just kept shooting it with tranquilizers while running away from it! Only to have some random raptor jump out at me!

I used to play this game with my friend called Jurassic Park on the 3D0. It was pretty neat, as I recall (being pretty young at the time).

Yeah, those FPS levels are just as creepy as I remember. Even the damn doors open is scary.

Chik-chik-chik-chik... it's like Jason is about to get ya.

That footage also reminds me of the odd distinction between the adventure and FPS levels- the adventure areas were really hard because you didn't have enough ammo of the good guns to take on all the Raptors that came out at ya, and their AI was generally pretty tough and aggressive, whereas the FPS levels had the same issue with lack of ammo, but the Dino AI was terrible, but that was compensated by the puzzle elements (night vision goggle batteries running out while you tried to get the ammo needed to take down the dinos in your path, etc).

    The soundtrack was also creepy

    EDIT:

Man, watching these youtube vids is making me want to listen to the music over and over. Does anyone know how I can go about getting the soundtrack?

Not the actual tracks but there're two good remixes available on OCRemix, and a few actual tracks can be found here http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/index-gr.html

Never played the SNES game. I have beaten the Genesis version (both games) as well as the somewhat lesser Rampage Edition. I also owned the NES one, as well as the lesser known Sega CD version.

I beat the Genesis version back in the day. That was a great game. Ah, the days when movie-related games didn't suck.

No, there were still a lot of movie-based games that massively sucked, even back then. The ones that succeeded were the ones that did games inspired by, but not directly following, their movies.

I still have trouble deciding if I should call this my most favorite game or not. I got it way back when I was 5-6, didn't beat it until about a year ago. It was those stupid eggs. The closest I had previously come to completing the game was only two eggs. Two measly eggs. But then a couple years later, I found them and all was well.

    The end.

Also, for those interested, I converted the original music files to mp3 format and handed them off to VGTunes, so if you want the "real" music in a listenable format, I suggest you go there (though who knows where else it might have popped up since).

Finally, was I the only person who absolutely loved the dilophosaurs in this game? They were so cute with the frill and the hopping and the spitting-of-blue-venom/acid-blobs. Awwww.
